webfact
Appeals Court sets bail for eight PDRC core leaders at 800,000 baht each Former Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban and eight core members of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) have been granted bail, set at 800,000 baht each, by the Appeals Court after they had been detained following their convictions and sentencing in the Criminal Court this week. Mr. Suwat Charoenpol told the media on Friday morning that the Appeals Court had granted their bail requests on the grounds that they have been granted bail before and had not attempted to flee. He said, however, that the court decided to increase the bail surety by 200,000 baht each and ordered them not to leave the country without obtaining prior permission from the court. Popular Post edwardandtubs
I'm sure they had a comfortable night well away from the other inmates. And that's the end of that. Nobody really thought the Thai justice system has suddenly become impartial did they? 4

Popular Post jonclark
And there was me thinking that bail was a pre trial , not post trial feature of the legal system. Appeals are meant to be lodged from behind bars after the custodial sentences have been passed. 2
Popular Post HaoleBoy
Why did it take 7+ yrs to prosecute these politicians? Yet, the student protesters get prosecuted immediately (or within 3 months) and are denied bail. What did these 8 core leaders do that was against the law? What was done was much less offensive than what Phayut and his gang did to steal their power.
Artisi
All over bar the shouting, all the first court does is confirms the charges, nothing else, it's the next followed by the final court if it gets that far who review the charges and decides on what action should be taken. It seems the charges in the main are very minor ie, stopping people from entrering their work place etc, misdemeanours more like so don't see it going to far in the court.
