Featured Replies

Military Police in Phnom Penh have identified two of the four robbers who were shot dead on Monday during a gunfight at a gated community at the suburbs of Phnom Penh. Yesterday, the group of robbers, armed with an AK assault rifle and 2 pistols, planned to “extort $1 million” from the family living in the villa, which consist of a husband and a wife, their children and two housemaids, according to the military police.

The botched robbery happened at about 11 am on Monday at a villa at Borey Angkor Phnom Penh in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district. Major Nuuon Phally, deputy commander of Sen Sok district military police, identified two suspects as Oem Sovannarith, 21, mastermind, Rey Pisey, 30 and two others have not yet been identified because their relatives have not yet come to receive their bodies.

Maj Phally identified the victim as Mao Hour, 58, businessman and is an official working at the Electricite du Cambodge. He said that Pisey’s body will be cremated by his family after the funeral.
