Hello all,

I am a retailer of fly fishing supplies located in North America looking to expand my supply chain of hand tied fishing flies to Chiang Mai due to its reputation for quality and reliability. I understand Chiang Mai is a hub for fly production with many local women making them by hand to earn a living, however it seems there is little information available online regarding what factory's are still operating. Many of the websites are dated from the early 2000's with little activity since than and I have not had any luck getting ahold of suppliers so far. Does anyone know if Chiang Mai is still a hub for producing flies or has the industry died out? any suggestions for company's to contact would be greatly appreciated. I very much enjoy the beauty of Thailand and the nature of the Thai people and would much prefer to give my business to a Thai company over one from Africa or Mexico. Let me know what you think

Best regards

D

CM is a craft oriented place - - as a former exporter to USA, I would train people and set up your own dedicated supply chain... I am assuming it is an easily learned craft...
