March 17, 20215 yr My ED visa about to expire in the next week. Can I convert to a retirement visa without having to leave the country?
March 17, 20215 yr OP you have a non o. Your only changing reason for extension. Have you organized your financials. Your intending to use money in the bank or income method for your extension based on retirement?
March 17, 20215 yr Author yes, completed a TM7 applying for extension and I have money and received appropriate income validated letter from bank. I went to immigration today and they said I needed to pay 11,000 baht or leave the country and reapply.

Number of months of income etc. Did you specifically ask what was the issue?
March 17, 20215 yr Author 800K in bank, been there since June last year. Main Hua Hin Imm, just said I had to pay. I said that I shouldn't have to pay 11K only 1,900 Baht fee. Officer said pay or leave country. I didn't have the money on me anyhow and left.

Of course, you have to pay for the agent fees but which is cheaper? Leaving the country and coming in involves 14 days of quarantine in a hotel, Covid test, etc which will cost you quite a lot of money. This does not include return airplane ticket, 14 days quarantine abroad and hotel fees abroad. So it's better to renew it inside Thailand. Edited March 17, 20215 yr by EricTh

In one post you refer to 800k in bank since last June. Your quote above refers to "received appropriate income.....? I would visit an agent just to ask if your being scammed by imm office (doubt it) or they can point out if/where your application is not meeting requirements.

March 18, 20215 yr This 11,000 baht is a strange, slightly rounded-up number, isn't it? What's Hua Hin Immigration's reputation when it comes to trying it on?

Where you able to get this resolved without having to pay their "extra service" fee ?
May 23, 20215 yr Author I went back the next day and the same officer was there. He initially refused to deal with me, so after some pleading I eventually paid the "extra service fee".
