The visit comes in the wake of 96 out of 1,615 detainees testing positive for the virus in immigration detention, mostly at a holding center in Bang Khen, reported Daily News. The field hospital has been set up at the Police Association in the same area of Bangkok of Bang Khen, Laksi. Leading the inspection was RT chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk, deputy Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat along with officials from the police hospital as well as Immigration Bureau chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang. Picture: Daily News Immigration has come under scrutiny after the outbreak among their detainees and the inspection visit can be seen as a strong message to the public that they are following protocols as well as keeping an eye on their own, notes Thaivisa. Immigration keep illegal migrants sent to them from the courts and agencies such as the Department of Special Investigation to holding centers like Bang Khen and Suan Phlu in Bangkok. Critics have pointed out that migrants awaiting deportation for illegal entry and overstay are often held in cramped conditions that would represent an idea transmission point for the virus. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-03-23 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Bradmeister
Its the immigration department that aided the spread of the virus and continues to do so everydsy through out this country. Lets see policy changes. Lets see transparency, lets see legislation being discussed. Whats happenkng at detention centers is of little value when compasred to the businesses, expsts, and retirees who pump millions if not billions of baht into this country every year. What is the Ministry of Interior planning to streamline and make doing business with Thailand easier for any and all persons to retire here?
