Some foreigners who enter Thailand will still be required to complete 14 days of quarantine, health officials confirmed on Friday.

As Thailand is preparing to reduce its quarantine period for foreigners from 14 to 10 days, some African countries will be exempted from the new quarantine measures.

Department of Disease Control chief Opas Karnkawinpong said travellers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia, Kenya, Rwanda, Cameroon, Tanzania, DR Congo, and Ghana will still be required to spend 14 days in Thai quarantine.

This is to prevent the potential spread of the South African variant of the virus, Channel 7 reported.

The list of exempted countries will be reviewed every two weeks from April 1, Dr Opas added.

Africa is rife with Covid and they wont release any true figures cos they can't get them. But Thailand wants to bring them in ? Crazy !

You cannot trust people coming in from different countries not knowing their previous travels or contacts.. the quarantine must stay in place at Thai borders, until 100% of Thais & travelers have had inoculations.

You mean like Thailand then, right? Thailand don’t know how many people are having Covid-19 either as they refuse to test, but, when they do test, the numbers go up. Therefore, Africa and Thailand are playing the same game, “if we don’t test then we have very few people found positive so we won’t test and will report false figures”. Cant blame just Africa for using this method....
