In a word, COVID-19.  Or did you think it came from somewhere else?

Pretty sure that's accepted worldwide..............My point is that, it sounded to me as if you were implying Chinese tourists were responsible for the demise in worldwise tourism...............................Obviously that's not your opinion from your reply..........On a side note, I'm not sure how I'd feel if the whole world was pointing a damning finger at me if I was a citizen of  a country where a pandemic originated.....................

Expects and may are two words that are significant. As someone who is in China at the moment the word is that no travel until 2022 without doing up to 28 days quarantine, coming back. This again is ju

This would be the China where haz-mat suited police were forcibly dragging families from homes a year ago, right ? Followed by strictly monitored and enforced lockdowns and travel bans ?

The Chinese will be back in droves hoovering up all the cut-priced properties and businesses they ruined in the first place.

You mean military dressed up as tourist?

......and the USA did more to kill 20 million people here and worldwide due to the Spanish flu.

These epidemics have to start somewhere.

Just a hint, the Spanish flu may have come from Spain?

Thailand doesn't want us dirty farang. They prefer the "Clean Chinese" who spit on the floor of the restaurant, walk down the street sounding like a flock of geese and who will bring "Covid 20" as their "Gift" to their little brothers to the south.....In 6 months, I'm out of there. There are other countries just as nice as Thailand that are more welcoming, don't adore the Chinese and have rational adult leadership.

Well good luck, see you when you have decided Thailand was the better deal for you....lol

The last thing I want to see is the return of the Chinese. So much for quality tourism.

They will practically own Phuket by the end of 2022

I see a lot of nothing..

Thailand sees Chinese everywhere...

Israel sees Iranians everywhere, England sees Russians everywhere, America sees Mexicans everywhere, and so on.

Each country with its own obsession...

Having said that, quarantine or not, very few Chinese and non-Chinese will come as long as the other restrictions/requirements will remain.

That and the fact that Thailand has yet to grasp that the destruction of mass tourism is a major part of the great reset...

To me it sounds like this is a plan bound for disaster. Imagine what will happen, when the vaccinated foreign tourists in Phuket are getting mixed with the vulnerable un-vaccinated domestic travellers from other parts of Thailand?

People have learned close to nothing from the pandemic. Many Thais are now wearing their masks under the chin, as they just like me are exhausted by wearing it properly. Just a few days ago, I was enjoying a lunch buffet in a 5-star hotel in Bangkok, when I saw a Thai man touching and squeezing all the buns and baguettes in a basket. When I made a no-no sound, he just said "check hard", meaning that he needed to know, if they were hard or soft.

That's what they do now, if you enter sir cowboy. A friend told me.

You do realize that China defeated the virus in less than a year. While Trump managed to murder over 500,000 Americans most of them in his home state of New York.

Also China has implemented a vaccine passport system for its citizens. Something the terrorists on the right will fight tooth and nail to oppose.

Amen.

China defeated the Virus, Really.  If so then why are they still locking down residents and not allowing travel...Try again -  Strike 1

Notice that Thais don't seem as bothered as one might expect at China for its destruction of the entire global economy.

I see a lot of nothing.. We hope and we believe but there are no certain numbers they talk about.  It is al hoping and guessing far beyond the reality.. I see updates every day about this issue

Plus airline prices will be a lot higher .

It is the way forward and Phuket is the perfect place to do this,

whole of Thailand will benefit from it. Well done!

Anyone travelling to China must do 14 days quarantine, so this would also apply to Chinese who want a holiday in Phuket. On arrival back home they would need to do quarantine. I'm not sure if this can be home based but even then it is likely to put most Chinese travellers off.  Or is there a Chinese vaccine passport that allows them to avoid quarantine if they have both shots?

So yeah, the primary tourists imho will be from China with a smattering from other countries that haven't gone full-authoritarian-Orwellian on their own citizens.

Try telling that to the Mongolians and Uighurs

They do 14 days quarantine in a hotel, offering free Shrimps. They would even stay a whole year.

Wow...that is a good point....even if they are vaccinated?

No body is coming.  Who see's?

I think we have a few soothsayers' working for these newspapers making false allegations and fake news!

Way beyond propaganda!

Absolutely incredible, let's let the country that initiated the pandemic globally flood into Thailand and no quarantine required. What an absolute JOKE. No wonder the humanitarian people in Thailand want a change to the Government. The old guard just think about monies for themselves and how they can screw money out of the tourists who keep the country alive. RIP Thailand ????????

welcome the Chinese with open arms? after all the chaos they created with their virus? and what if they bring another one?

here in Europe, I don't think we will see them back as tourists so they could infect us again with their dirty eating habits

To avoid losing control of the epidemic?

Back a few months ago when there were 10-15 confirmed cases in Qingdao a city of 9 million inhabitants, they tested for free the city's entire 9 million inhabitants within 2 weeks, and lockdown the areas (communities) where they found infected people. As a result, the virus never went to any other cities.

Plus, travel is allowed domestically to any place, so long as you don't live in a community where they have found cases, in that case you will be quarantined (inside your house) for 14 ays.

Think about it and you'll figure it out I'm sure. Consider it a consciousness test.

Hint : the virus originated in C*in*.

If Thailand would test such as you pointed out China did in Qingdao, then who knows what the number of possible infections might be found here.  But I digress.  The fact is that I don't see how China will lead the charge of 2 million tourists when the country is keeping the people locked into the country and allowing only domestic tourism.

Thailand needs to be vaccinating 100k a day like in the US and Europe if they want to open up to tourism and ensure a spread of the virus does not follow opening without many here being vaccinated, like we have now.
