Naew Na reported yesterday that the commander of the Bangkok metropolitan police reported that 139 of his officers had tested positive for Covid-19.

 

A total of 490 officers were in quarantine, said Pol Lt-Gen Phakpong Pongpetra.

 

Asked about the cluster of bars and entertainment establishments in the Thong Lor area of the capital that resulted in the start of the third wave of infection, Phakpong said that detailed evidence gathering was in progress.

 

Everyone associated with the Krystal and Emerald clubs would be investigated and prosecuted including owners and stakeholders.

 

Matters were less expedient regarding the investigation into the activities of the Thong Lor police themselves. 

 

A committee of inquiry has been set up and some progress has been made though further evidence has been requested. 

 

Regarding the Grand Centerpoint Hotel where singer Stamp performed and was infected, the Lt-Gen said that summonses had been issued for the manager, birthday party owner, person responsible for checking disease and Stamp himself.

Hardly surprising as they either own bars, spend their days visiting bars to extort money or both.

Almost word for word what was said following the Santika Club fire back in 2009, that was also under the jurisdiction of the Thong Lor Police.

I would really like Thais to wake up and see exactly what the RTP is.

I know a couple of cops and feel sorry for them that they are dragged into this mess...

Unfortunately there is NO leadership in government and it can only get worse.

Must be very lucrative to be a member of one (or several) of those many many committees, collecting all those brown envelopes from cops and whatnot who want to buy off their sins.

a cynic might wonder if they are allowed to self-isolate at home as "inactive"ly  as possible..... rather than be forced to be interned in hospital.
