ConnectionNotGuaranteed
I am in the market to buy a car. Probably an SUV, 7 seater. Went to look at a few new ones and they want a lot of money based on current exchange rate. Fine if at 75 baht to the £ but not at 43baht. Therefore, I want to explore the used car market for a 12 month to 2 year old Fortuna, Isuzu, Mitsubishi etc. Haven't decided which yet. I'm no car guy so I fancy using a dealer with a bit of guarantee rather than a private sale. Have any of you got any positive experiences with Used Car Dealers who you could recommend? Many thanks
jacko45k
Did you check out the Mitsubishi dealers and a Pajero? Apparently some good deals if you don't mind the name (not flattering if you know South American Spanish).
BangkokAlan
Siam motor world. It is an expat run car dealership in Bangkok but they also have services that will check a car for you that you plan to buy to see if its a quality car or a rip off or they can do a finding service idk you tell them what you want. They seem to have a good reputation amongst expats, used them to advertise the sale of my car some years ago although i ended up selling it privately in the end and a friend sold two car through them. You could checkout their website they normally have car for sale in there.

actonion
I was shopping for a small second hand car a few months ago in Pattaya, i think i went to 90% of them looking for a small car maximum 2 years old .,all of the dealers i went to had many small cars, ,but everycar was minimum 3 & 4 years old, i thought with so many cars being reposessed now finding a new ish small car would be easy .. but not.. not in pattaya anyway.. bought new ...
ConnectionNotGuaranteed
Went looking at loads of second hand dealers but they want stupid money for quite old cars. In the end I went to all the main dealers to try out new cars (suvs) and ended up getting a nice deal on a brand new Nissan Terra.

I liked the Pajero very much but got a better discount on the Terra. Same gadgets and tv in the roof. I kid you not, the choice was almost down to the Pajero not having a driver's side cup holder. We all need a cup holder on a trip to Issan ???? Edited May 20, 2021 by ConnectionNotGuaranteed
LongTimeLurker
All of the major manufacturers have their own "guaranteed by" showrooms where they've checked the used cars and give a warranty, not all dealers though so you have to look around. Still pricey. I found mine by trawling through Talad Rot and another website I can't remember the name of and going up to Bangkok to buy. Cheaper than the dealers in Pattaya. Yellowtail
All the late model repos go at auction and end up on the new car dealer's "used" lots.
