turn 2.. and then the shifty winds favouring the kiwis once more.

The $64,000 question. Why didnt the well paid afterguard on Alinghi cover to protect the lead? result 2-1. Yeeeeeessss!!! :o

hooray although Swiss should get chucked for being unable to meet rules yesterday; nice sailing though.

Alinghi went down the right layline, and a hole opened up, so once it was more than about 100m of separation it wasn't worth comnig back across through the hole, and having to heat the angle up; they might have given up their lead; so they stayed right, and just kept having to stay in breeze out there; ETNZ picked it better at the finish there. Thems the breaks in changing breeze; got to stay in phase to keep pressure and headers downwind; then also cover and protect, but pressure/dircetion of the breeze is key in a downwind apparent wind generating type boat that doesn't sail dead at the mark.

at least iMHO

what a race though :-0

No penalty for Alinghi; protest by Emirates Team NZ dismissed

Thursday, June 28, 2007

The America's Cup Match returns back to normality. The protest filed by Emirates Team NZ yesterday evening was dismissed by the Jury and as a result, Alinghi will not get any penalty and the series remains tied at 2-2.

Valencia Sailing

the swiss did look solid thou on weds covering when needed and no passing lanes offered.

looks like another close one on the water today, should expect Baker to come out firing and aggressive as opposed to the other day when he gave up the engagement altogether and lost the start, never to regain the lead..

c'mon TNZ!!!!!

Hired Goldman Sachs in November to explore a possible sale of Serono, the biotech company he inherited from his father. Potential bidders GlaxoSmithkline and Johnson & Johnson were rumored to balk at the $15 billion price tag. It was the cap to yet another rough year at the helm. One of Serono's U.S. affiliates pled guilty to charges, brought by U.S. Attorney's office in Massachusetts, of conspiracy to offer and pay illegal remuneration to health care providers to induce them to recommend its AIDS drug, Serostim; the company took a $725 million charge to cover settlement costs. It may be time for Bertarelli to step down to enjoy what he really loves: yachting. America's Cup winner hopes for a repeat victory. :o

sh*t that was a real heart breaker last night, to lead and then have that happen is beyond belief, I hope we bounce back tonight.

I was at work and missed it. Looked like the cheeseheads got lucky that time. Tomorrow will be different :o

hope not. more heartbreak.

Rumours that Coutts will be leading the Oracle challenge next, kiwis on Alinghi will probably follow.

No problem. There will be plenty of Swiss sailors to take their places :o

I just want to congratulate the Kiwis on their fourth straight America's Cup. Also would like to congratulate the Kiwis on the New Zealand boat for putting up a great fight. Whenever you bring it home to Auckland, I'll be there :o
