I could have asked"What are you doing for fun" but not that kind of fun.

Of course there are many members who are working everyday and have no time for hobbies.

I think most retired old folks like me ,have lots of time to do things.

My own hobbies?

We have about 5 rai to keep weed free and trying to improve things all of the time.

Last week i knocked a wall out of the workshop and this week it should get expanded by about half.

I do a lot of stuff in the shop from woodworking to welding to whatever needs fixing.

Being and ex factory maintenance mechanic i like to fix and install things and if something stops working

i get interested.

I also like to go camping,loading all the gear on a small bike and going somewhere for a few days.I like beach camping.

We also have a lot of animals,chickens,ducks,rabbits,doves,cockatiels,quail,canaries,dogs,fish and a whole bunch of pigeons.

Trying to breed special color pigeon has been my main hobby for a few years now.

In the old country i used to race them but i am too far away from Bangkok now.

So what keeps you occupied?Besides drinking of course.

Golf, swimming ,reading, writing plus other stuff I can't mention on this forum.

I've learned how to compile and edit videos in the last month, which will keep me busy for the next couple of months.

Shortwave amateur radio - I'm the only radio ham in Laos (Thailand has over 100.000 radio amateurs...).  I spend a lot of my hobby time making and testing different radio antenna systems, such as receiving signals from the International Space Station (ISS), and various weather satellites.  

Certainly a good idea to have some hobbies if you've retired out here.  Living next to the sea means I can enjoy a nice beach walk, I try and ride my bike most days.  Have a nice gym and swimming pool at the comlex I live, (when open.)

I write, and have been lucky enough to have twelve books published.  Couple of times a week I fish off the beach.  All I have mentioned are free or cost very little money.

In my retired life I don't consider myself yet as old folk, life consist of a few hobbies I enjoy other than general run of the mill living things like eating out occasionally, drinking beer.

 

Luv riding and maintaining my Supersports Motorbike I like the hard accelerating speed of my machine.

Will return to 2 - 4 day bike trips out about Thailand on my bike when covid is out the way.

 

 

Have my mancave farmhouse and small piece of farmland where I have my Archery target range set up which I enjoy.

 

Practicing Kenjutsu with my Thai copy Katana it's bit like Tai chi with a sword.

 

Use my Bro in-laws .22 air-rifle I bought him for target sniper shooting.

 

A bit of burden sometimes but don't mind helping the mrs out sometimes as taxi driver and help maintaining her apartments and garden.

 

 

 

 

 

My hobbies include solo yacht global circumnavigation, mountain climbing, lion taming, shark wrestling and lying about my hobbies.

Electric vehicles, battery packs, electronics & circuit board design, firmware, Android apps, 3D design and printing.  More fun than when I was paid to write software!

Golf, squash, badminton, guitar.

Guitar ( electric and acoustic ) Gardening , cooking , reading , chess and chatting to Filipino webcam girls when the wife is not looking.

 

Dont have much time for any of them since various DIY jobs take up a lot of time. Builders around here will build you a house but wont do any small work for you.

If nothing else you have proved the existence of baby pigeons!

Fishing, photography, reading, music, playing PC games, walking, camping, swimming and of course drinking...

Surprisingly few cooks....  lovely meals every day.... love baking bread, now learning to bake cakes..... always time for the woodworking in the workshop creating designer sawdust and shavings, gardening and hydroponics..( gave up on aquaponics as lost too many fish due to power cuts).....  as an ex triathlete trying to keep fit.... loosing the battle... and the occasional game of golf.... and working with my engraving machines.... otherwise nothing special......

Golf, gym, boxing, gardening -veggies and ornamentals (orchids now which is great to discover in more depth), swimming, surfing both here and O/S, writing the occasional profession article, enjoying my beautiful villa, women, cooking, guests and a damn good Aussie style BBQ, cooking, cycling, sailing occasionally, travelling, astronomy/star gazing with my awesome super powerful telescope, making wooden toys for orphanages - rocking horses coming along nicely ????????

Sleep like a baby thank you ???? Early to bed early to rise. I do have Buddhist do-nothing days too and I have plenty of free time. It's amazing (to me ongoing) when I don't procrastinate and live in my head how productive my life can be.

My only hobby is music. I have a Yamaha PSRSX900 and a Yamaha NP31 coupled together via a Tyros Magic V-Console tablet. Have just ordered a 13 note set of bass pedals which will probably take a month or more to arrive.

I play for my own entertainment when I get the time, as with a small business open 24/7 my free time is at a premium.

Keeps me out of mischief.

But seriously. I used to be a pretty hardcore backpacker. Traveled with shortwaves. Shortly after my last purchase eons ago all the news but mainly BBC and VOA just sorta dried up.

 

I'm sure it was novel decades ago. I'm just not seeing the purpose. Even for spooks.

Hobbies? After 34 years here my hobby seems to be repairing everything in and around the house that has started to conk out. Fortunately being nearer to 90 than 80 I haven't conked out and still ticking over. I'm sure the ( hobby) is what keeps me going. In addition to complaining on TV about all and sundry that is. But that's what old buggers do. Especially Brits. Slamming the government and authority is a national pastime.????

If you haven’t flown before I would suggest poweredgliders. You use the power to get to altitude then turn it off. I bought one on Lazada, pretty expensive for what it was, and it wasn’t very big.....bigger is better for lift etc. I was flying one day and I let it get a bit far away, suddenly I had no control. It was still in sight, but basically disappeared. We searched for days, but nothing....I think somebody must have picked it up and walked away. I used to fly a lot in California and had an assortment of planes/gliders. I don’t think the ones I’ve seen here are very good. The best bet would be to have somebody bring it from your country, when they can. German electric engines are the best, but you pay for that. Good luck.
