So he was able to obtain fake driving license but did not renew his visa for 1 year? that makes no sense at all.

OP also claims security forces were on his tail but all they have on him is the over stay?

And another rather puzzling piece is he stayed in room day time but went out night time, but night time everything is shut, so where did he go at night?

And the hotels are supposed to report him staying there to IM via the TMMMM whatever, maybe the site was down

Doesn't sound like he was on a sightseeing trip.

Looks like he may have been warned the plod were on his tail. Quit Phuket in a car rented on a false ID. Laying low in NST, while never residing in the same  location for long, and only going out  under the cover of darkness. Not the behaviour of a typical tourist.

Why did they not give his full name. Maybe an immigrant aussie (not PC but) and it would have given him away.

At a guess, they don't have any actual evidence for his being "mixed up" (whatever that means) with drugs and prostitution and therefore if they give his name they could be done for libel/slander, which is a criminal offence in the Kingdom.

well there you go, all those connections when it hits the fan are worthless.

The jury hasn't even been selected yet let alone still out, I suspect we shall hear no more about this honest businessman

Apart from whatever other dodgy things he was involved in, how would they suggest he gets back to Aus anyhow.

International borders are , for the most part, closed.

That's easy - "man overboard", lost at sea.

I don't undertand why they didn't just nab him when he went to IO to do his 90 day reports......ha ha ha ha ha

Obviously, he was not reporting.

2 different things. A fake license just needs to past muster if he gets pulled over.

Aussie..... drugs.......hookers.....foreign mafia (vodka?)  ....

He better have a good work permit for that!!!

The catch all is always the same....... OVERSTAY!!!

fake license name..........Deeeeez   Nutz.    lol

stayed in his room during the day.......it is hot and COVID.

Like all LE arrests, they just need a reason to hold you while they look for evidence for further wrongdoing.

So  What?

If a Thai man can commit crimes in Australia and not be considered a criminal, logic tells us, then an Australian man in Thailand committing crimes is not a criminal.

I believe the word is reciprocation in treaty terms.

He could always go to PNG where his skillset would fit right in.

Unlike the British who are always the victim, never the villain, Australia does have it's share of crims and dirtbags.

Good to see this piece rubbish caught and locked up.

Not a good time to be in the system with covid rife, and little chance of an early plane out.

If you click on the link it shows his full name.

It doesn't sound like an real Australian name, but obviously British surname.

British immigrants to Australia have been causing us a lot of problems for over 200 years now filling the jail's and courts.

But the government give them welfare, government housing etc etc they speak their own language , have their own religion and haven't assimilated well with the locals, and they have taken over most of the cities with the exception of central Australia and the top end.

Sure when he is returned to Australia he can run for office and be appointed Prime minister because he was not arrested in Australia but in Thailand.

Operative word "when". Even decent law abiding Aussies cannot return home to Australia. He could be spending a very long time in a Thai Immigration Detention Centre.

Unlike Thailand, the Australian ministers will see it differently.

No one's suggesting that he gets back to Australia, he does need a valid passport with a visa/extension to be here though, that's the issue.  And a genuine licence.

A rental firm had rented him the Toyota and arranged for a fake license.

Oh, do you have to pay extra for fake license or is that included complementary and free of charge with every vehicle? ????

Come, come, Colin. You seem to have forgotten the Krays and Ronnie Biggs.

You also gave us Tony Abbott, arguably the worst Prime Minister in Australia's history. Although I understand he's now adviser to the UK Board of Trade, good luck with that.

If they have arrested him, and if he is involved in drugs, prostitution and the mafia, I serious doubt there will be any trouble getting him back to Australia - chances are the virus will be in retreat in 5-10 years when he's released and Aus open again
