The Thai government has promised millions of doses of locally produced and imported Covid-19 vaccines before the end of the year.

The aim is to get a first dose into the arms of 70% of the people in Thailand by the end of September.

They hope to stimulate tourism in this way.

The first jab will be available between June and September. The second from October to December, reported Daily News after a meeting via video conference chaired by PM Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House yesterday.

The list for priority is:

1 Frontline medical staff in state and private sector

2 Thais working in Covid prevention areas

3 Those with underlying health conditions

4 Those aged 60+

5 People in risky jobs such as teacher, public transport drivers and advisors travelling abroad

6 Embassy staff members and their families

7 Thais in the universal healthcare scheme

8 Foreign nationals and migrant workers

AstraZeneca vaccine will be available in June with 6.3 million doses, July-November 10 million doses, December 5 million doses.

An extra 37 million doses will come from Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer 20 million and Sinovac 7 million.

The exact amounts are up to production schedules.

Five provinces will go first in June - Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Phuket (part of the sandbox foreign travel plan starting in July).

In July it will be time for Chonburi (where Pattaya is located), Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Songkhla, Sa Kaeo, Narathiwat, Ranong, Nong Khai, Koh Samui (Surat Thani) Phangnga, Krabi, Chanthaburi, Rayong, Chachoengsao and Samut Sakhon.

Then plans will begin for the remaining 55 provinces.

This so called government have made numerous promises over the last six years, but nothing ever materializes, except more hot air. So does he expect anybody to believe him this time.

So where the hell do those who are 73 with heart problems go to get the vaccine.  How the hell do I know where to go.  this damn government does not give us any information at all.  I am in Ratchaburi

The caveat being the last sentence in the quote above.

Doses are few and far between, with the schedule as such.

So when will the vaccines they have on hand run out, as they have to shift the vaccines to ward off the virus in prisons, factories, and such.  Are only Thais in prison, and working in factories getting vaccinated or are they vaccinating all.  The world wants to now.

70% of 69 million with 2 doses equates to 1 million a day if the September goal is to be met. That and hesitancy to register will make this very highly unlikely to happen.

So where the hell do those who are 73 with heart problems go to get the vaccine.  How the hell do I know where to go.  this damn government does not give us any information at all.  I am in Ratchaburi so what hospital or place do we go to.  We have no damn information what to do.  They do nothing. at all.  I hate these leaders they do nothing for the people

We're talking 2 doses per person.

What if you've had your initial shot and unable to get the second dose due to an extended wait for the next vaccines?

Plans and aspirations are not the same thing. The former involve practical realities like which hospital to go to and when, and the latter just need a dream.

If I were on your shoes I'd be looking to the private sector rather than waiting for the government.

Priority List for me:  8 of 8.  October to December?

So they say.

Well, what's about the happy girls, massage girls etc?

Does it also count for the hi-so thais, travelling to the USA to get a vaccine?

8 Foreign nationals and migrant workers

At least, we have the lucky number

False information. There is no plan to vaccinate 69 million, apart from anything else they do not have approval for younger age groups.

and we lower the cc in the jab so we can vaccinate more people and save about one billion Baht as a famous newspapers article mentioned

Private sector will not be until October at the earliest unfortunately.

Is there an official quote on that or is that your guess?

It would appear that after reading this article that foreigners are still the last group in the list of 'priority' groups and this means that foreigners who are 60+ or have underlying health conditions are not being treated the same as Thais for receiving a vaccination. So, the program to register foreigners starting on 7 June is just window dressing to make it appear that we will be vaccinated earlier than the previous 'August' registration that was supposed to be done on the smart phone app.

They apparently are including J&J. This is the first time I've seen J&J mentioned as part of the program. If so, you only need one shot.

Cant see import vaccines except Sinovac in their free vaccine campaign over locally produced AZ as  I wouldn't be surprised if hospitals will take advantage of JJ that's its one shot by charging double the price which is standard Thai practice.

I have no idea how all this will eventually develop. I don't think anyone does. It's all day by day, which is why I've begun to cut back reading and participating in the TVF topics on vaccines. I only come here to vent my anger about the do-nothing US embassy these days.

I'm in your group and thank my lucky stars I'm marooned in Thailand and NOT India!

Me, I'm just biding my time, staying as safe as I can and waiting until the Private Hospital I use contacts me with vaccination plans.

No point aggravating your heart condition over the current situation.

Moderna not until October, and that is exactly what my doctor said last Monday when I saw him, Pfizer, well that one is still up in the air, could be by September but maybe not until the 4th quarter.

Or were you thinking the Sinovac or AZ vaccine what was being discussed by going to a private hospital for a vaccination.  Have a good day

So Pfizer in 3rd or 4th quarter, that's what I had heard also.

Yet as I posted afterwards this just came in

Please note, it is unlikely that foreign tourists will be included and you will need to wait for private hospitals to start selling vaccine packages around October #Thailand

I can already see a new trend.

Soi 4, 6 etc. Instead of selling fake watches, sex toys, t-shirts,  sex pills etc, they grab your arm, pull you in a site-soi and ask if you want some vaccine.

All half price and 100% effective.

If they get to 50,000 per day I'll be shocked.

More BS being spewed out my GF has had her appointment cancelled 3 times her newest one now being in the middle of July and due to underline issues she is one of the vulnerable Thais
