BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has called on all medical units to work diligently to curb the rising death toll from viral infections, while acknowledging the discovery of the Indian strain of the COVID-19 virus among 15 construction workers in the Laksi area.

Spokesperson for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, today mentioned that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed concern over the daily fatality rate linked to the virus, relaying his remark that even one death was unwanted.

The PM has asked the Department of Medicine, Ministry of Public Health and other related organizations such as universities to exchange information and resources to lessen the toll, pointing in particular to folk treatments beyond vaccination.

Dr. Taweesilp reported that more infections have been found amongst Laksi area construction workers, and admitted that viral strain B1.617.2, more commonly known as the Indian strain, was found in 15 of the workers.

All have been sent to hospital for treatment and an investigative team has been dispatched to probe the development and bring the situation under control.

While confirming that extra precautions must be taken in dealing with the strain, the spokesperson said all data has been forwarded to the Permanent Secretary of Public Health and Director-General of Disease Control so that an in-depth media conference may be held.

He said that the PM has been briefed on the matter and is coordinating with the Ministry of Public Health.

Imagine him saying something similar regarding traffic deaths....

In related news, the PM announces that water is wet.

I suspect the medical authorities are way ahead of him when it comes to saving lives.

I hope Thailand has a stock-pile of oxygen... which caught India out.

Thailand has virtually no vaccines and a shortage of oxygen would be a disaster waiting to happen.

If there was an award for 'stating the bleeding obvious' Thailand would be absolute world beaters, stating the bleeding obvious would be right up there with road deaths and corruption. Who said Thai's aren't world leaders at stuff...

Is the man obsessed with 'folk remedies' ?

Once vaccinated, there should be no need for mumbo-jumbo treatments. That, after all, is the object of the vaccine.

Those  pesky doctors  not taking  care again eh.

Wow, talk about a slap in the face. You don't think the medical community are doing everything they possibly can to save lives...

...perhaps if you hadn't encouraged people to travel for Songkran, or you were doing a better job testing, acquiring vaccines and rolling them out, then we may not be in this mess.

The head guy Anutin knows nothing about medicine and whos family runs a construction company vying for Chinese contracts is very reassuring.

Unless they are foreigners then just take them to the cleaners.

Wow  ....what a kind , caring, benevolent man........................................Yeah right.

The population has called on the PM to get his finger out and inoculate the entire country... not just 5 provinces.

I can just imagine the entire population of Thailand all going to turn their taps on just to make sure. ???? ????
