Chonburi – Rojana Dhamma Rescue Foundation, Sattahip yesterday, May 22nd, announced on its Facebook official page a temporary closure of its rescue center after a group of rescuers and volunteers had rescued an injured person who was later found to be positive for the Covid-19 Coronavirus.

Pichit Keaokkutun, Head of the rescue foundation, told reporters that the rescuers were alerted of an accident involving a foreign national who had reportedly slipped and fell at his home last Thursday, May 20th. They rushed to the scene and immediately took him to the nearest hospital without wearing protection suits as they were told that he was not infected. However, the team was reportedly wearing facial masks and gloves at all times during the operation.

Unfortunately, the patient was later pronounced dead and was reported as positive for a Covid-19 infection. The name and nationality of the victim was not released. The rescue officials, therefore, decided to temporarily close the foundation and conduct public health measures.

two points to make

- why have these front line staff not been vaccinated - the government seems more interested in vaccinating all of Phuket in a tourism drive rather than protecting people on the front line.

- Why have they not named the location where this person lived ?

we are seeing more and more of these random detections being caught by pure luck, if this person had not had an accident he would be out there spreading

RIP

All people should be treated as though they are infected.  These rescue people have

got to quit being naive and maybe save their own lives by being better prepared, and less

trusting. COVID has been around long enough that precautions should always be first

priority.
