Accident American National Dies of Suspected Heart Attack While Riding Motorcycle in Phuket
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 56-year-old American man tragically died of a suspected heart attack while riding a motorcycle in Patong, Phuket, with his teenage niece as a passenger. The incident occurred at approximately 19:00 Saturday, 31 May, on a curve along 50 Years Road (commonly referred to as 50 Pee Road) in Patong Subdistrict, Kathu District. Officers from Patong Police Station received a report of a fatal motorcycle crash involving a foreign national. Upon arrival at the scene, police found a red Honda Click motorcycle off the roadside in a brush-covered area. Lying nearby was the body of the deceased tourist, later identified only as Mr Larry, a 56-year-old American citizen. His 16-year-old niece, Miss Isabella, was no longer at the scene by the time authorities arrived. A doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital conducted a preliminary examination on site, after which the body was transported to the hospital for a full post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death. Initial investigations revealed that Mr Larry and his niece had just finished dinner in the bustling Bangla Soi area and were returning to their accommodation on 50 Pee Road. According to police reports, Mr Larry complained of chest pains as they approached the curve. Moments later, he lost control of the motorcycle, which veered off the road. He died at the scene. Family members confirmed to authorities that Mr Larry had a history of heart disease and there were no signs of foul play. Officials have since contacted the United States Embassy to assist with necessary formalities in accordance with international protocol. Community Coffee Shop Seeks Cyclists After Accidental THB 22,150 Payment for THB 221 Coffee

A popular café in Pak Chong district has launched a public appeal after two foreign cyclists accidentally transferred more than 100 times the cost of their bill while paying for their coffee. Mount Wind Tree Café, located along Road 3052 in Pong Talong subdistrict, Nakhon Ratchasima province, issued a message on its official Facebook page on 31 May, after discovering the significant overpayment. The message reads: “To the two foreign customers who stopped at our café while cycling this morning at 08:53, you accidentally transferred too much money when paying for your coffee. Please come back to collect your change.” The café explained that the customers had ordered two cups of coffee, totalling THB 221.50, but mistakenly transferred THB 22,150. Staff believe the error occurred during a mobile banking transaction, possibly due to a misplaced decimal point. The café has asked the customers to return in person to collect the refund and has declined to return the funds through third parties or digital channels for verification and security reasons. “Please come back to collect the refund in person,” the post added. “Or contact us at 08-9515-8357.” The story has since gained traction on Thai social media, with users praising the café’s honesty and hoping the cyclists will see the message and reclaim their funds. Accident Near Miss on Rama II Road: Metal Scaffold Screw Falls on Car Roof

A potentially deadly incident occurred yet again on Bangkok’s notoriously hazardous Rama II Road, when a piece of construction equipment fell from above and smashed onto the roof of a moving car. The terrifying moment has reignited concerns over the safety of one of the capital’s busiest thoroughfares. The incident took place around 18:00 on 31 May, near Lotus Mahachai 2 on the Rama II frontage road, during heavy rain. A Facebook user, Panjana Krasinthusap, shared a video and photos of the aftermath, showing a metal component embedded in the rear section of her car’s roof, which was left with a hole and dents. According to her post, the object appeared to be an adjustable scaffold screw used in scaffolding and to support structures. It reportedly fell from an overhead construction area. “Good thing it landed on the rood,” she wrote. “I can’t imagine what would have happened if it had hit the front windscreen.” Panjana is now trying to locate a white vehicle that was driving behind her at the time, in hopes that its dashcam might have captured the exact moment the object fell. The model and licence plate of the vehicle are currently unknown. She urged anyone who may have information or footage to come forward and help share the post. Rama II Road has long been under public scrutiny due to frequent and often unexpected incidents. Despite ongoing efforts to tighten safety measures, the road continues to see cases involving property damage and in some instances, loss of life.
