Who cares? Really who cares? Honestly if they put as much effort and energy into rolling out the vaccine as they did denying this truth. Thailand would be covid free.

Call it the Pattaya strain and call it a day.

Basically that’s what happened in the U.K. when the press began to refer to the U.K.  variant as the “Kent variant”

O that’s interesting, so 10 out of ten viruses recently interview (in Thai) denied  being conceived in Thailand? Who cares?

Except for dead man-golfing trump, the world moved on from trying to make political capital from virus labelling. Makes as much sense as focussing on a bullet’s country of origin in a shopping mall shoot-out.

Whatever baht expended on this kind of PR more profitably directed towards persuading the sad anti-vaxxers to pop on a helmet, keep their heads down and get a jab.

Good news about the' Pattaya Strain' is that it can be treated extremely successfully with very inexpensive antibiotics.  The 'Pattaya strain' is only lethal in cases where 'the wife' finds out.

I must admit that I enjoy the Thai variant saga that is enfolding in the media. Som na na.

Karma is if the strain gets here and you catch it and die lol

Stop this nonsense!  Thailand deserves its own variant of Covid 19.  A Thai variant almost sounds appealing ... beaches, palm trees etc

They should be happy; the Thai Strain could end up as the Worlds Number One killer bug and they always want to be 'Number One' !

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on Saturday reported 4,803 new cases, among the highest on a single day since the outbreak, and 34 deaths over a 24-hour period.

I wonder how many of these is the Thai variant or the Wuhan original

These things happen and they stick.

The horrific Spanish flu of 1918 originated in the U.S.

Mai jing, jing Jingthing! As quoted from history.com: "While it’s unlikely that the “Spanish Flu” originated in Spain, scientists are still unsure of its source. France, China and Britain have all been suggested as the potential birthplace of the virus, as has the United States, where the first known case was reported at a military base in Kansas on March 11, 1918."

That does not mean it originated in the USA. Focus on the "scientists are still unsure of its source". The military doctors/scientist in Kansas merely identified the strain and report the first case which was not possible in Europe during the war and China probably did not have the scientific capability.

Considering the conditions in the trenches during WW1, it is more probable to have originate there. Although, there is a Canadian historian who points to records in China "that the lethal influenza pandemic first appeared in China in 1917 and then exploded across the globe as previously isolated populations came into contact with one another on the battlefields of Europe.”

Inconclusive, FYI

In any case, it's certain that it didn't originate in Spain.

Kansas seems to want to take credit.

Once again Anutin has been proven correct.

If the tourists had of behaved this wouldn't have been allowed to mutate.

That will hurt the PC brigade still reeling over his accurate predictions at the start of this pandemic.

If only Boris Johnson had of been handing out masks instead of shaking covid patients hands in covid wards the B117 highly contagious mutant variant may never have of occurred and the worldwide covid situation would be much better than it is today.

If only.

Had HAVE! Ooh it’s as infuriating as starters of sentences with ‘so’ or the ‘yeah no yeah’ brigade. ????

I am surprised that it's not be named as the misunderstood virus strain and that a few wais from the Czar would make it disappear.

Uncle Too, don't be so modest! Stand up proud for the nation!

Those bats first came from Thai caves &...finally...we've got our own variant!

You really know how to bring happiness!

Okaaayyy, I'll bite. How many cases of the Thai strain in...Egypt???

The reason there's a Thai variant is exactly because vaccines haven't been rolled out.

Thailand...the hub of covid variants.

But apparently in January it was not an issue to inform everyone that there was a new variant of the virus from Egypt.. And if it is from Egypt why is it only now discovered?? So I am sure it is a Thai variant. The government has done nothing to keep people safe in a year time and see what the result is now.. Lying about the numbers of infections and the attitude " we can handle this by ourselves" if it is about the vaccines has caused this chaos

If Thailand was as great as it thinks it is, they would have invented a vaccine and everyone would have been fully vaccinated a year ago ????

typical  England  don't  want  to offend  a Muslim  country  so pin it on the Thais.
