Rechargeable Batteries

Recommended Posts

NiMH batteries never seem to last even 2 years.

They take a charge, but the length of time they will produce power is maybe 1/2 to 1/3 of new ones.

AA and AAA especially.

Am I buying the wrong type ? How to get longer life from these, or any tips on another type of battery.

PS - this Forum was the closest I could find to pose this question

I've been using eneloop (Panasonic) for ages. Hundreds of charges, work very well. I do refresh them occasionally, then replace at 5 years.

Think you need a decent charger?

I've been using a La Crosse BC-700 for ~ 12 years; still going strong. Easily one of the best tech-ish purchases I've ever made.

Also been on the same rechargeable Braun toothbrush for ~ 6 years.

Use it or loose it..

I connect a cheap timer where you can charge 10 minutes every day (mechanical not electronic). So the many devices with batteries will last much longer, also NiMh from HamRadios.

Use this one - with both AA and AAA batteries of the same brand

Charger specs out OK with my multimeter - just seems the batts will not hold a charge any more

Just did the AAA a week ago.

Put in my Gillette Fusion Power razor and they last about 3 days. Which is less than 10 minutes.

When new they would last 7-10 days easy.

Waterpik for travel the same. Charge them up fully, last about 3 days.

Same as above

How old are these batteries?

Can you tell if they are real? Or did you get a "deal" on them? "Duracell" is spelled correctly so that's a good sign.

Is this the only brand you use?

Maybe try a different brand.
