Thai Supreme Court President Mrs. Mathenee Chalotorn signed an order yesterday (Monday), to set up a 4-member fact-finding panel to investigate the Toyota Motors Thailand’s (TMT) bribery scandal, involving import duties on Toyota Prius hybrid cars, in which three former senior judges have been implicated by Law360.

The panel comprises senior judges of the Supreme and Appeals courts, with a chief judge of the Supreme Court as its head. Mr. Suriyon Hongwilai, spokesman for the Office of Judicial Affairs, said the panel is authorized to extend its investigation to include any other individuals implicated in the scandal.

He stressed that the Thai judiciary will try its utmost to uncover the truth about this matter as quickly as possible and will deal decisively with all those found to be involved, without exception.

I hope that the above comment is true, and that they will get to the bottom of this matter.

Then deal with any corrupt judge accordingly, but somehow i very much doubt it.

With a new female president i think there might just be a slim chance of the truth coming out, please Madam President be straight / honest and get this matter sorted fairly.

Maybe a group outside of the Goverment and court structure should be handling said investigation.  You can not investigate yourself and expect true transparency and have your investigation be done without collusion or certain information being hidden.

I have no doubt as we write this misunderstanding is being very carefully explained away and brown envelopes are already sealed and donated to charitable causes.

I hope like yourself but history and honesty here is not exactly recorded well.

So the Thai Judiciary is going to investigate themselves?

Yeah, that always works.

Shhh not allowed to name them, or suggest their wrongdoings or they will SUE you.

They (shhh no names no packdrill) have stated this.

As much chance of the truth coming out as farang`s getting covid jabs for free......sorry.

Kangaroos investigating kangaroos. I'll hop for the best.

The minute they say they have set up a 'Fact finding Panel' or a 'Committee' you know it's going nowhere

That'll end up in the usual place.

For those of us who know Thai culture well, this is one of those kinds of things that is not solvable, at least not without significant hurt and violence. This is where the culture falls down.

Any Thai who dares to go up against the entrenched must also be and must have a higher rank and larger team than the one being targeted.

For most Thais, righting a wrong is simply not worth the immense risk.

Expect this to go perfectly silent or sadly for someone to get hurt.

Exactly. Senior judges are going to investigate former senior judges. That can go only one way.

Start to unveil the truth you get your car ventilated, keep digging you get yourself ventilated.

It's happened many times before.

Thai judges eh?

Now where's that other thread again...
