Nationwide Building Society - Credit Card Authentication

Many NBS customers will recall that the society were planning to introduce OTPs via a UK only mobile phone to authentic on-line card transactions. It caused a furor of course with many messages being sent to them in protest, pointing out the problems that many expats would face.

 

Well, I'm very pleased to announced that they have solved the problem for us, at least as far as credit card payments are concerned. We are now able to authentic an on-line payment via the mobile app. When you request the payment, the app is pinged with a message asking you to confirm that it is you making that request. It's very simple to use and very secure of course. 

 

I've just used it and it worked. I haven't tried it with a debit card and I'm not very likely to, but would think that the same system would apply. We could always ask them of course.
