The Immigration Bureau press briefing yesterday gave details of an operation against a company being run by two Chinese men and a Thai in the RCA, Huay Khwang, area of Bangkok.

The IB thought they were just checking the credentials of Chinese nationals Mr Chu, 49, Zhi Ping, 31, and a Thai called Jala, 31.

When they arrived at the premises it soon emerged they were dealing with more than just an investment company.

The place was guarded by a whole host of tooled up, short back and sides military looking men.

They called for back-up.

On the fourth and fifth floors they found staff working at computers and laptops. There was great shock, reported Naew Na

Some tried to shut down their computers, others tried to flee the building.

The IB soon had everything under control.

One section of the staff were running a loan sharking operation using Line chat via platforms called PIGLOAN and BESTLOAN.

Customers were getting 2,500 baht loans without a guarantor. Just one catch - they actually got 1,500 baht and had to repay the full amount in 7 days.

Another section of the staff on ibetter.app were touting for customers to join an online betting group.

Staff were paid 14-15,000 baht in cash on the first of the month.

Four of them were foreigners without work permits and were booked for working without documentation.

In addition on the second floor nearly 700 bottles of bootleg wine and spirits worth about one million baht at market prices was found.

The three main suspects have been charged with offences ranging from loan sharking to running an online gambling operation to dealing in illicit liquor.

At THB 1,428 a bottle, they must be bootlegging something decent. Market prices for fake, or for what it was pretending to be?

Thailand appear to be attracting the high class Chinese ..............................LOL

If the Thai police called for back-up then they would need an army against organised Chinese. Maybe they put this cover story out to explain exactly why 7 RTP pooped their pants in public as they were unable to fleece the alleged perpetrators.

I've always thought Thailand was years behind the modern world, but it now appears to be on a equivalent of 1920's America

Is this a direct translation from the original article.......how many in a "whole host"?

No arrests for carrying weapons as I cannot believe they were all legally licenced to carry?

maybe they were workmen and "tooled" meant they were carrying hammers, saw and nails ?

There last on fired a Uzi or the like when they walked through his front door.........sounds like a good idea to have back up.

What is RCA? And whatever happened to the journalistic standard of spelling out an organization before using its abbreviation?

What is RCA?

"Royal City Avenue - more commonly known as RCA - is the epicenter of Bangkok's clubbing scene. It's an officially designated nightlife zone so you can be assured of a party 7 nights a week. Clubbing institutions are packed every night and, on weekends, they're rammed to full capacity. There are so many options for partygoers in RCA"

Royal City Avenue or RCA is one of Bangkok's largest entertainment and clubbing areas. Located on in Huai Khwang district, RCA is a long street located between Rama IX Road and Phetchaburi Road. It contains a multitude of bars, nightclubs and live music venues. RCA, a government designated Entertainment Zone, is frequently visited by young people.

It isn't an organization but an area.

this is crazy.   the poor always gets exploited, ends up worse off, but thinks that today will be better than yesterday.  Oh, it might be.....BUT tomorrow will be 10x worse than today.

America is going to give away 80 million vaccines.   Too bad Biden doesn't have ties to Thailand.  America could also EASILY give every Thai 10,000 baht, but instead they give military stuff.

Greed is us.     We are greedy.     Greed kills.    This won't change in our lifetime.

Why would the loan shark & gambling computers upstairs still be on, let alone unwiped if Thai IB had to call for backup?

Once again, story is not complete.
