Popular Post snoop1130
BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) – The government’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration will close state quarantine facilities next month because they are a financial burden of the state. Revealing the plan, Gen Nattapon Nakpanich, secretary-general of the National Security Council, said the center would propose their closure on July 1 to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha due to the financial concern. CCSA would have arrivals pay for their own quarantine at alternative state quarantine facilities at reasonable prices, he said. edwinchester
This has been known about for months and one of the reasons all the Thai flights from Europe are full of Thais right now who still want the free State Quarantine.
Popular Post RR2020
Very clever. So now........returning Thai's will be basically made to fly into Phuket....... Then the TAT will claim that massive amounts of arrivals into Phuket................. but actually its just Thai's returning from business trips and doing their arrival into Phuket now as its easier for them than hotel quarantine in Bangkok. ???????????????????????????????????????????????? 2

Popular Post jojothai
I guess maybe they cannot afford it any more, now they have begun ordering overseas supply of Vaccine. However more likely It is a big burden for the powers that be receiving no income from state quarantine arrangements. Time to correct the situation? jojothai
"pay for their own quarantine at alternative state quarantine facilities at reasonable prices, he said." If so, that's going to be more of the discriminatory two tier pricing. Are they charging foreigners higher prices for the flights yet?

Popular Post Caldera
I think it's reasonable. Thais who got stranded abroad and wanted to return have had time to do so. Thais who want to holiday or work abroad can be expected to be able to afford paying for their quarantine.
bermondburi
Glad my wife and kids got back in time. One of the reasons I was happy for them to come and visit was knowing it was free for them to return. They get out on Sunday. I won't pay 100k for the three of them to return so until the rules change I guess that's it.
scorecard
But what about Thai folks who are just managing to save enough money to get a repatriation flight back to Thailand (e.g. farm/factory workers). Many/most of these folks have with very limited resources, how can they pay approx., 30,000Baht for 14 days quarantine on top of airfares? Or perhaps the gov't would prefer they stay where they are abroad with no work and no money? Edited June 11, 2021 by scorecard
