You've just about hit it there.

1,814 via hospital walk ins, thats the highest number since the 22nd May. Active testing also down. There is a serious disconnect between the testing and the real situation on the ground, its almost like they've put testing on the back burner as they're to busy dealing with the chaotic vaccine shambles.

Either way the virus is rampant with over 11% positivity in Bangkok and that says it all. Its not getting better and the Delta variant is snaking its way in.

And yet Bangkok has relaxed more of the restrictions from today (parks, massage & tattoo parlours, beauty salons) and schools are set to re-open from 21 June?

Such is politics, the virus loves political decisions, it thrives on them

Yes, and this makes as much sense as opening up Phuket to no quarantine in 15 days. Money driven economy has been faltering and children's education has been suffering like we both have discussed before.  The GF's daughter was done with her on-line work today by 11 am....even has all of the worksheets completed that need to go back to the school to the teacher on Friday.

Oh you think just an asylum, sorry but that's a little low on the rung. I think they escaped from the double padded crazy ward where there are straight jackets worn...

But Chonburi reported 2 deaths.  Maybe they're using the old method of counting.

The bad news is there doesn't seem to be an end in sight for this wave of 2000+ cases a day. It is becoming more likely that only vaccination can put an end to it, and that could take months at the current rate.

The good news is that the big numbers are confined to the Bangkok area.

But they wont be confined to Bkk if people are allowed to travel, aka  songkran, gvnmt needs to be firm, yes they will be unliked but they are used to that.

See from another news report on a site that cannot be quoted from, that more clusters been found, anyone who says that this is not spreading must be wearing rose tinted glasses. I saw an interview with a virologist in Malaysia about situation there, he was advocating to increase mass testing to find cases, although it  would lead to an increase of reported cases, it would allow earlier intervention to take the infected out of the community and earlier intervention of those who were sick to provide better outcomes and reduce fatalities.

As I said many times over and for many many months, test more and en-mass.

Phuket marks four new COVID cases, as number of patients in care falls

Phuket Town - 76 (+2)

Rassada - 59 (+1)

Kathu - 51 (+1)

SILENCE ON DEATHS CONTINUES

Phuket officials have yet to comment publicly on the past three deaths attributed to COVID-19 on the island.

Phuket has suffered five deaths attributed to COVID-19 since Apr 3, most recently on Saturday (June 12) ‒ the fourth COVID death on the island in the past two weeks.

Of note, while the PR Phuket report marks that the target is for 466,587 people in Phuket to be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating 70% of the island’s full population, only 397,971 so far have registered to receive a state-provided vaccination under the national mass-vaccination campaign.
