House Speaker maintains his rejection of Pheu Thai’s draft charter amendments

House Speaker Chuan Leekpai today (Wednesday) reiterated his decision to reject the Pheu Thai Party’s  draft charter amendments, which seek to establish a Constitution Drafting Assembly to craft a new charter under Section 256 and Chapter 15/1 of the current charter, as both Houses of the Parliament convened to debate and vote on 13 charter amendment drafts proposed by various political parties.

Mr, Chuan maintained that he has strictly adhered to the Constitutional Court’s ruling that allows amendments of the current charter, but not a rewrite, after being questioned by Pheu Thai MP Cholnan Srikaew over the decision made before the parliamentary session.

Mr. Cholnan insisted that the party did not seek to write a new charter, noting that both Mr. Chuan and his legal advisory team had interpreted the Constitutional Court ruling in a way that is blocking MPs from performing their duties in parliament.

Strictly adhered to the Constitutional Court’s ruling that allows amendments of the current charter ....must be talking about flexi rules that bend in a uniform way????

No referendum, we'll sort it all out in our own way.

Here is the perfect Thai charter:

1. I am Palang Pracharat, thy Party.

2. Thou shalt not have any other Party besides me.

3. Thy Party and Country is ruled by the Holy Prayut, the Holy Prawit and the Holy Thammanat.

4. Thou shalt not speak ill of thy Party, thy Country or the Three Holies, especially on Social Media.

5. Thou shalt not kill, except if you are a thug employed by the Three Holies.

6. Thou shalt not commit adultery, except for the Holy Thammanat who can have 2 wives or more.

7. Thou shalt not steal. Ha, ha, ha.

8. Thou shalt not lie. Another ha, ha, ha.

9. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, except at Krystal Club and approved Massage Places.

10.Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods, except if the neighbor is dead and has a watch collection.

Call it a Constitutional Amendment Committee. Job done.

A bit like the broom I had for 20 years. Same broom, changed the head 20 times and handle twice, but, same broom.

The entire constitution can be changed, one amendment at a time.
