PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Government and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will together hold a month-long festival in Patong and Phuket Town under the banner “Colourful Phuket” to welcome tourists to Phuket under the Phuket Sandbox scheme.

The grand opening of the festival will be held on Patong Beach tomorrow (July 3), with another major event being held in the Phuket Old Town area on Sunday.

At the popular Patong Beach tomorrow, there will be local food trucks starting from 3pm, as well as fireworks and fire shows, from 7:30pm to 8pm, the Phuket Provincial Government announced through a notice this afternoon.

many cynics out in force here again.

glass empty or half empty types......

stay then in your miserable lonely pits.......

try to appreciate the govt. efforts being made, however late / misguided / ineffective

they are making a start, working hard in their own way with a national crises never experienced here before

I shall be at both events having fun with my family

They shouldn't be working hard at all with this nonsense. They should be working flat out super fast & super hard at getting vaccines and locking down containing the virus spread. 6000 new cases around the nation today. Sorry but it's not the right time for tourists to be flying in to have fun with their families.

Hanging out with a bunch of vaccinated, tested, and tested again tourists is probably the safest place in Thailand to enjoy.  There may be safer places to exist, but most Thai homes don't have a basement.

Nope... "Absolutely Horrible" was few months ago when those fancy clubs held parties with thousands of sweaty drunk partygoers rubbing against each other whole night lol.

This thingy along Patong beach is quiet and safe affair, went there few times before, food stalls along the beach, families walking around, wearing masks and distanced. We'll come by tonight to see the fireworks and some new happy faces, cheer up guys ????
