Lipoma removal in Bangkok

Featured Replies

So I have a bunch of these, the worst 3 offenders on my forearms, been there for years so if it was cancer I would be long gone already. Seems like a pretty common procedure to have them removed but I did not find anything with a search of the forum. Would like it to be as minimally invasive as possible (scars).

My normal hospitals would be Vipawadee or sometimes BNH if I am feeling wealthy. Anyone have any experience with this, usually a dermatologist, maybe a different specialist? Costs? Thanks!!

Usually a general surgeon, not a dermatologist. Cost will depend on how deep they are and exactly where they are, and whether they can be removed under local or regional block vs need general anesthetic.

Are you sure these are lipomas and not cysts?

Pretty sure they are lipomas from everything I have read and researched but sounds like I need to pay a visit to the hospital and speak with a Dr. Thanks Cheryl...any idea if there are big restrictions or things being put off in Bangkok hospitals right now due to the Covid situation?

In the government hospitals (especially in Bangkok area) yes, private hospitals not as far as I know

I had a very large lipoma removed from my thigh. The size of good sized lemon (5cm diameter, 7cm length). The thing had been in my thigh for almost 20 years, and I thought it was a cyst. It was definitely cancer. So do not think that just because it has been there for a long time that it cannot be cancer. The real issue is if the lipoma is what my doctor called "well defined" - in other words, it is all in one location and not "branching" out into the muscle tissues. I was lucky that mine was "well defined", as the doctor told me of his friend who lost half of his thigh to one of those "branching out" versions.

Had mine removed at Samitivet, and the work was excellent. You want a good surgeon, and more importantly in my opinion, good lab analysis on the removal.

What's the diff between cyst and lipoma?

In February had cancer removed from ear at Vibhavadi Hospital by Dr. Narhtip Songthong (plastic surgeon so more expensive than general but best for not having scars) for 14k including biopsy and was very impressed by doctor and felt price was also good.  Operation was performed within about an hour after being sent to see him.
