Popular Post mankindmatt5
Just thought I'd report this in, as I couldn't find any info about it myself when I checked previously. Missed my first 90 report in Jan due to being out of BKK and unable to use online reporting. In April, I also passed the deadline through absent mindedness. Online reporting was down. Also unavailable if you have missed the previous report. So opted to just wait another 90 days until reporting. Went up to MTT today, extremely quiet. Arrived just before the end of lunch. Maybe 2 or 3 others there. No queue. Was in and out in about 10 minutes. No fuss, no docs required. No nonsense about TM30. Fine of 2000 baht was demanded, which I was happy to pay after missing 2. Red stamp detailing the fine was entered into my passport. Next reporting date is 90 days from today. A friend of a friend told me he always approaches 90 day reports like this. Misses 3, ensures the last one is done before visa renewal comes up. Pays the standard fine of 2000 once a year. Certainly more cost effective and less hassle than the usual waiting around, taxiing up to MTT etc. Although obviously this comes with a risk, if police investigate your passport at any point and hit you with a significantly higher fine. Hope they ditch this nonsense by the time the pandemic is done. Over and out 1
Popular Post Cuchulainn
Worth thinking about, only the red stamp in passport may be a bit unnerving! 2
fishtank
If you actually get caught not reporting the fine can be 5,000 baht and 200 baht a day.
Thaifish
When you play in the Mud sooner or latter it will stick to you. The fine for neglecting to notify immigration of a stay over 90 days is 2,000 Baht. If you are arrested for any reason and found to be in breach of your reporting duty, the fine goes up to 5,000 Baht. At this point, you will be fined 200 Baht a day for each day that you fail to report thereafter. 1
brianthainess
I wouldn't risk red stamps in my passport, at one point it could hinder your extension renewal in the future. You have a 3 week leeway, 2 weeks before or 1 week after on 90day report. 1
StateSix
You could also wait until you need to renew your extension of stay and pay Bt 2k, or Bt 1k if you don't need a receipt. No red stamps in your passport either. Of course, as ThaiFish states, it gets expensive if you're arrested or checked before you report.
ThLT
(Although not an issue with COVID... ) When applying for a visa at an embassy, only 1 red stamp might result in a visa being declined. Edited July 8, 2021 by ThLT
unblocktheplanet
And Thailand Post makes it a piece of cake to report. I prepare the necessaries the minute my receipt comes back. Put a sticky on it with a big date in red for my next report. Just don't be 'absent-minded'--that's the politicians' job!
