With new lockdowns it are not only people who are suffering. Closure of markets and such also means that many stray dogs and cats are left without food and have to fight for every scrap. Animal shelters notice that more and more people simply abandon their pets, leaving them to fend for themselves on the streets: an almost certain dead.

Please don't forget the plight of these animals. Help feed them or give a donation to an animal shelter in your area.

The long term solution to the bigger problem ( a million street dogs in Thailand ) is sterilization so they can't reproduce. There are many private sector non-profits doing this work in communities in Thailand. Please consider a donation - or working directly with a group in your neighborhood to help identify dogs in your area that should be sterilized.

Yes, most animal shelters have sterilization of dogs and cats at the core of their program to prevent more and more strays. They help the kittens or puppies and sterilize the mothers before releasing them again in the community they come from.

But they are depended on donations and every baht goes a long way.
