Metaphors for Covid vaccines

1) Seat belts: The vaxxers say vaccines, like seat belts will save lives. The anti-vaxxers counter with, no they don't, if you vaxxers really want to save lives then you guys should stop driving - or better yet, stay off the road altogether.

2) In a piece in a current US weekly (pm me if you want the name and title), it's a castle (the human body) gearing up to fight off the invaders (the virus.) The article goes into details how a castle defends itself for those of us unfamiliar with medieval tactics, but the philosophy over those maneuvers is, and I quote:

"Sure, vaccines would be “better” if they erected impenetrable force fields around every fortress. They don’t, though. Nothing does. And our shots shouldn’t be faulted for failing to live up to an impossible standard—one that obscures what they are able to accomplish. A breached stronghold is not necessarily a defeated stronghold; any castle that arms itself in advance will be in a better position than it was before."

3) A very simple one comes from Dr. Offit from the Vax education center in Philadelphia: getting vaxxed is like putting a fire extinguisher in your kitchen. It's not going to stop you from accidentally burning something, but it will help you put out the fire when that happens.
