BANGKOK (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan today chaired an online meeting with Thailand’s security-relevant agencies to ensure the highest security level during the 2022 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit to be hosted in Bangkok in November next year.

The 2022 APEC Summit will be the first physical meeting in three years, bringing representatives of 21 economies together, after cancellation of the meeting in 2019 and teleconference meetings in 2020 and 2021.

General Prawit ordered security-relevant agencies participating in the meeting to work on a detailed security plan in three areas: firstly facilitation and immigration formalities, secondly security guards for important persons, attendees, venues and related areas, and lastly logistics and traffic management.

The Royal Thai Police are assigned to work on a security and guarding plan, a logistics and traffic management plan and a contingency plan. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health will focus on medical response plans.

General Prawit reiterated that the plans must be detailed, carefully made, and proactive in terms of news operations and must be able to be brought into practice. Moreover, they must recruit suitable personnel and rehearse those plans.

Thailand is proactively working on the security measures in order to gain the confidence of all participants.

A lot can happen to the porcine watch officianado in a year!

Hopefully they have somebody with a brain behind the scenes as I dont think 'ol fatty' has the werewithall to do much more than run a bath by himself, thinking about it he probably has a 'man' for that....

Wow they had the same amount of time to plan for this covid wave as well, but we can see how that turned out no can't we.  I hope they have better luck with this planning.

Thank you, general, for pointing out the glaringly obvious (as usual). Nobody would've thought about these crucial details. What would we do, where would we be without your unmatched expertise? Now go back to sleep.

Nice to see an old hand and borrowed wrist watch in a key position. No doubt the APEC 2022 conference will be calling for hubs in Thailand and plenty of sub-committees.

Will he welcome his mates from Burma

I'm surprised he has enough time off from his position as a Tik Tok influencer to participate in government business......????

PLAN:

First Step: To establish a Registration Website for all Participants to register

Successive Steps: Not necessary anymore because of First Step

Pity they didn't do the same for the vaccination programme!

They sure speak of noble efforts  [usually, in a high rhetorical narrative] yet doesn't reflect any such practice.

You'll be remembering how outstanding Thailand handled the looming mess for a year or more - largely by societal efforts, less any officialdom bumbling.

Then all collapsed. What happened?

Would have been nice to apply some of that know how towards boarder security about 6 months ago.  You know... to stop Delta.

My favorite most inept Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan always makes me smile as to what can be got away with here tick tock ????

Hopefully a lot of these gentleman won't be around when this "event" takes place.

Anybody else think it unusual that all the aging dinosaurs in various senior Govt positions haven't succumbed to CV19? They must have an unbelievable immune system considering the majority are >60 years of age, or are on a daily cocktail of various vaccine antibodies, both..

He need to be sure having a watch with alarm function that wakes him up every 10 minutes. Or better not.

I suppose he had to "Chair" something, if only to prove he's still there!

Each time an MP  "chairs" or works yet another committee he receives compensation.

Some can make ridiculous amounts of extra income for jobs they should be doing anyways.

Maybe the Thai Bunter was securing ample supplies of pies for the event.

Certainly breaking new ground for Thailand, what's next - an introduction to critical thinking, although that might be too big a step at this stage.
