Pattaya – A Thai woman has sustained several injuries after falling down from a third-floor balcony while smoking a cigarette Sunday night (August 15th).

Emergency responders were notified of the incident at 11:00 P.M. at an apartment in Soi Jomtien 4.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the injured woman, Ms. Pinkaew Butpan, 41, of  Sakhon Nakhon (Northeast of Thailand) lying on the ground.  She had sustained various injuries but was cognizant and expected to recover. She was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Very lucky. Well enough height to kill a person. Hope she will recover quickly.

Look at how low the balustrade is. Thais tend to be on the short arsed size and it only comes up to the coppers thighs – on a foreigner that would barely be over his knee caps.

No wonder there are so many condo ‘accidents’

survived = accident.

dead = suicide.

She was Mao mao… No suicide. Happy Birthday, Miss Butpan.

Pattaya Plod deem Thai deaths from balconies are accidents but farang deaths are suicide.

A lucky escape, all the best to her

Perhaps she will quit smoking.

Just goes to show how dangerous smoking can be

Lucky gal.

Needs to give up smoking, very dangerous.

The guy who played the trick on her... moving the lighter further away each time she tried to light up, is still running down Threppasit.

Whole new meaning to "falling" for someone.

Especially for Pattaya, why don't they raise the level of the railing ? Put it in the code.

Las vegas doesn't even have balconies for this reason.
