webfact
File photo: REUTERS/Soe Zeya Tun Thailand on Thursday (August 19) reported 20,902 new COVID-19 cases and 301 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. ● 20,902 new infections ● 148 prison / prison infections ● 22,208 recoveries Thursday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 989,859 with 8,586 deaths. (Total infections since April 1: 960,996) The news comes as Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said if the current lockdown measures are strictly observed, with infections hopefully decreasing in September. The prime minister said that daily new recoveries have been exceeding new infections recently, which is a good sign. He remains, however, concerned about the high number of deaths, saying that nobody wants to see another. Popular Post anchadian
Carried over from yesterday's update posted earlier this morning: A further study into the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines: Covid vaccines still effective against Delta variant Having two doses of Covid vaccine remains the best way to protect against the Delta variant, first identified in India and now dominant in the UK. The Oxford-AstraZeneca jab, though initially less effective, offers the same high protection as the Pfizer-BioNTech after four to five months, the largest study of its kind suggests. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-58257863 4

Popular Post Kadilo
Recoveries continue to outnumber new cases which is a positive sign going forwards. The daily number of new infections does not appear to be increasing rapidly as predicted by many indicating that the peak may well have been reached or be close to. Hopefully this will be reflected in the death numbers soon. Edited August 19, 2021 by Kadilo 6 3

Popular Post ThailandRyan
Here we have another day in which we have over 20k cases and deaths are still over 300. A sad state of affairs based upon events that this government allowed to happen. Recoveries are not true recoveries in the sense of the word, but are releases, for many, to self isolate at home and medicate as directed. This morning as I sit drinking my coffee on the balcony all I have heard is a cacophony of Ambulance sirens. This tells me two things, 1 people need help, and 2 people are calling for assistance with Covid positive relatives or for themselves. It is another beautiful day here in Bangkok, and I hope the issues if people needing vaccinations gets taken care of. I was just informed that my Brother in-laws brother and entire family in California have covid severely and were just hospitalized. Unfortunately, they are antivaxxers and are now believing this is real. Stay safe folks and take care. 8

Bkk Brian
Thailand sealed the island of Phuket off from the rest of the country to keep COVID-19 cases down — but it also separated families who don't know when they'll be able to reconnect Sittirak said she also wrestles with the restrictions, as her family lives outside Phuket. Her parents and siblings are based in the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat, 160 miles west of Phuket, and she now has no way to visit them without being locked out. She would previously visit them roughly once a month, but with the new restrictions, she said those plans are on hold. "Right now, it's so quiet here, in terms of business, everyone was affected financially from COVID-19," she said. "We just have to keep on fighting. We have to endure." https://www.insider.com/thailand-covid-restrictions-sealed-off-phuket-locals-separated-2021-8
