I think most people don't know this, but 100 years ago, being an onanist was one the most common reasons to commit male adults to US mental institutions. These places were hel_l holes. Children were taught that masturbating led to insanity, and male adult masturbators were considered insane. Not sure about other countries, but we've come a long way, baby!
