Thailand’s National  Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is expected to take 16 months to complete its investigation into alleged mishandling, by 15 officials, of the controversial hit-and-run case against Red Bull heir, Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, including both retired and active high-ranking police officers and senior prosecutors.

Ms. Supa Piyachitti, a member of Thailand’s corruption watchdog, said that the commission will, however, try to speed up the probe.

According to the NACC law, the 9-member full commission should complete such a case within two years, which can be extended for another year if necessary.

It is not on the urgent list apparently.... In a western country it could be fixed in a few months now, surely after so many committees looked in for it

The case is not against the red bull heir, it is against the officials who let him free.

I'm sure that if they know that it will take 16 month to come to a conclusion then they also know already what the conclusion will be.

Inching closer to the statute of limitations

I remember the last time the NACC investigated something . It was someone in their own ranks as far as I remember and after about 6 months surprise surprise they found nothing wrong !

Watch exactly the same thing happen here ! ????

The breakdown is 1 week to collect information, and 63 weeks to come up with the excuses and the misunderstandings on why it was not corrupt

Farcical.

Why are some people on forum soo sceptical and cynical, we know how slowly the wheels of justice take to turn when clogged with envelopes.  ????

Statue of limitation runs out in 2027.... am sure they can keep delaying till then.

No, they don't need 16 months.  What a farce!  16 days would be plenty of time.  What's left to 'probe' by now???   Kick that can down the road--in this case WAY down the road.

One month to come to a decision as to who are the bent officials. Fifteen months to ensure brown envelopes are safely deposited and all traces of them are hidden away. And the "Ready, Steady. Go! I'm coming to get you." time period. To allow escape to travel to 'Far away places with strange sounding names.' Sounds like a song doesn't it.The show must go on.????????

Its all about the precious Dollar and where it heads. I am so sorry for the policeman that died, that his life has meant this little.

That wouldn't happen to be the same committee that looked into a certain case involving a large number of expensive watches.

If it is, it looks like 'Boss' should be back running around in Thailand by the middle of next year to shake everyone's hand

Absolute BS

It will be necessary until all suspects have died of old age.

This case perfectly highlights how ineffectual, corrupt and malleable the Thai justice system is.

Poor person commits a murder and the police announce it will be all wrapped up in three weeks.

Rich person commits a murder and the report into the report carried out to investigate the investigation takes 16 months?

Sweep. Sweep.

Nothing to see here.

Why bother?

It's all just Khon for the masses I guess.
