Preah Vihear Authority in cooperation with CMAC is going to clear mines and other unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the Koh Ker Temple area, in Preah Vihear province, this month in order to pave the way for UNESCO heritage site listing. Preah Vihear Authority Deputy General Director Pheng Samoeun said today that the clearing of mines and unexploded ordnances will take places at two locations in the Koh Ker Temple area.

He said the first location is Ta Men Temple (a priority area). Experts will clear mines around the 4.67-hectare temple complex, located north of the Koh Ker temple resort.

The second location is in the first protected area and the second protected area of the temple with an area of 57.25 hectares. According to Preah Vihear Authority’s report, Cambodia and UNESCO will register the Koh Ker temple site in the World Heritage List by next year.
