BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has participated in the third annual meeting of the Board of Investment (BOI), and has confirmed that the government is looking for ways to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the business sector through investment promotion measures and privileges, to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gen. Prayut took part in the BOI meeting via an online platform at the Prime Minister’s Operational Center (PMOC) in Government House, Bangkok. The meeting was also joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Finance Minister, Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, and related officials.

The meeting discussed measures to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, measures to support the development of vaccines and medicines in the country, and the extension of the period allowed to obtain international certification or attain other equivalent standards.

The BOI discussed receiving permission to temporarily halt business operations for more than two months, and measures to support investment in sustainable environmental management. The meeting agreed to enhance battery electric vehicle, battery electric tricycle and battery electric bus manufacturing businesses. The meeting also approved measures to support investment in electric bicycle, or e-bike, manufacture.

The BOI approved a proposal to expand the production of electricity and steam using the cogeneration system, as requested by Glow Energy Public Company Limited, with total investment valued at 6.046 billion baht, excluding land and working capital worth 5.568 billion baht. All shares are owned by Thais, and the location is at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong province.

The BOI acknowledged the investment promotion situation in the first six months of 2021, with the number of projects up by 14 percent. There were 801 investment promotion applications, 232 of which, or 29 percent of all projects, are in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Investment funds rose by 158 percent, totaling 386.2 billion baht. The EEC had investment funds worth 126.64 billion baht, or 33 percent of total investment funds.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister urged all units to quickly find ways to help SMEs and the business sector, using investment promotion measures and various privileges offered by the BOI. They must be transparent, fair and verifiable. Another immediate measure is to hire workers to reduce the number of unemployed. Related agencies have to consider ways to enable workers and machines to work together more effectively.

As he has no clue how to handle most anything himself, and if they do find ways, he will be able to say " Oh look what I did i was at that meeting so its all down to ME your supreme high leader of the universe and beyond" :coffee1:

Well that makes a change urged instead of Ordered, even though he was wearing all those medals (for what we do not know) to show off his status as supreme leader of a flailing, failing government.
