My Mother and Father had a summer home in Canada when I was a child so I have had quite some experience with Canadian pizza (Louie's pizza in Elgin Ont. is the best). The main difference is that all the toppings are put on the pizza first and then the cheese is added so the toppings can not be seen after the pizza is baked. The end result makes it easier to eat with a knife and fork which some restaurants insist upon (or they did 20 years ago anyway). but that's the difference between American pizza and Canadian pizza.

Huh. I'm not Canadian, but cheese on top is how I have always preferred my pizza, and how some of the area chains make it. (Cottage Inn!!) Perhaps Michigan is part of Canada gastronomically? Anyway, it's the best way to have pizza.

Cathyy, as far as I'm concerned MI is part of the new "blue states" + Canada country that my "think tank" is planning. We're a little short of cash for implementation at this point though.

Wondering why? Eh? :o

Well, Wiki says Canadian pizza is a pizza with Bacon, peperoni, and mushrooms on it. I suppose that would be Canadian bacon, eh?

I have had pizza in Canada and it seemed just like American pizza to me. Except when you bite it hard it says thank you.

so my impresson of a bunch of beer guzzing canadians throwing around dough was a bit off.....i'll try it sometime and letyou guys know...

So is it a place that sells Canadian type pizza or is it a franchise called "Canadian Pizza"?

Hi,

Craving for a good pizza, I went to this Canadian Pizza joint at Petchburi Road. They're a new setup - very curteous and friendly staff. They served me a drink whilst I waited for my pizza order takeaway (about 15 mins).

I ordered two of their Party sets for the gathering with my friends at my place. Each set consists of 2 x 10" pizza, chicken wings, onion rings and a free btl of coke. I went for their Hawaiian Classic and Meat Lover.

My verdict-

- Their dough which is sof and light just the way I like it.

- The two pizzas has generous toppings with the taste of authentic gourment pizzas unlike some of the derivates in the market.

- The party sets (499 bath each) was pretty good value for money - enough for the 8-10 persons. All of them say that this is one of the best pizza they had for a long time.

Overall positive experience so I'll try them again.

I gather that they specialise in delivery rarther than sit-ins. Their number is 02-872-4141. Next time I'll call them.

Are the OP and "actionhero" in on a little advertising ploy here?

Seems odd.

only one post by actionhero and it's chock full of info about specials, prices, delivery information, and even their phone number.

how handy.

I'll wait for more replies before "biting" into a slice of this.

I was avoiding this thread but finally relented. I order pizza when I'm doing month-end. I'm in Vancouver. I order from Bella's. Semi-thick crust, good sauce (not too much basil), lots of back bacon (must be Canadian), sometimes pineapple, sometimes deluxe. Always has mounds of cheese melted on top. About Bt450 with a big caesar salad (Bt90).

I order from Bella because she is Italian. I, myself, have never heard of Canadian pizza, although I am Canadian.

Im very interested in knowing if its any good. My friend opened the first Canadian Pizza in Bangkok and it was good, but they shut down and mysteriously a new one popped up almost right away and its not my friends restaurant..... Im Canadian and always thought our pizza was generally the same as the U.S? Oh minus the fact that we get ours delivered by eskimos on dog sleds.

I just ordered a takeaway from this place.

Good price, crap pizza.

Dough had no flavor and the toppings on both (different) pizzas just fell off. It looks like the base and toppings weren't cooked together.

Really didn't enjoy it. I'll give it a second chance another time.

I just can't get used to the maple syrup instead of tomato sauce.

Better not put a maple leaf made out of tomato sauce and mozzarella on it, our us friends might think you are trying not to have your pizza mistaken for one of their's.

Here is the story behind Canadian Pizza from a Canadian.

Since the eighties, the number everyone knows in Toronto for pizza delivery is 241-0-241. They have catchy little jingles on the radio and clever bus ads, etc. As the phone number suggests, you "buy one, get one" for every pizza ordered. Two for one, oh two for one.

241pizza eventually went country-wide to all Canada cities. 241-0-241 is the number to call in most urban centers now, toll free.

The Canadian Pizza link posted above refers to a Singapore company that successfully "ripped off" the company in Canada- copying their Marketing Strategy of "2 for 1" which has played right into the Singaporean mindset. Canadian Pizza in Singapore has done very well for themselves and has branches across the island state. I used to eat it when I lived in Singapore, and it wasn't bad pizza.

Cheese on top? That's a new one to me, don't know if I buy it or not. The websites above show the toppings over the cheese. However, gotta agree with ccathy- that's the way I prefer my pizza.

Only a marketer for a pizza company would say 2 x 10" Pizzas are enough for 8=10 people, that would work out to just over a (thin) slice each.

I've seen the place on Petchaburi, but never tried it. I do believe they are trying to copy the copycats in Singapore... offering a two for one deal.

Besides sounding like spam - its not even very good spam.

How many folks, other than Thais, like soft and light "dough"?

Personally I prefer "crust" -- crust with texture. I like my crust a wee bit crispy on the bottom, while having a little "pull" to it -- not "soft and light dough".

I grew up in Southern Ontario, there are a lot of Italians there so great pizza. The closest pizza to the pizza I am familiar with is New york style with big pepperoni slices and tons of mushrooms. On the east coast (Halifax) I've seen the cheese on top of toppings. I like seeing the toppings myself. There is a Canadian pizza place at the airport. I didn't try it cos it looked like crap on the menu. I've never eaten bacon on pizza either. Do they put marmite on Ausy pizza? Or chips on English pizza, pizza butties? How about deep fried mars bars on pizza in Scotland?
