Thailand’s House Foreign Affairs Committee was in the north-eastern province of Udon Thani on Wednesday to investigate complaints from locals living in the vicinity of the Royal Thai Air Force’s airbase about the deafening noise from the Thai and Singaporean air force F-16 fighter jets.

During the visit, the parliamentary committee met with Group Captain Surasak Sesavech, commander of the RTAF’s 23rd air wing, and was briefed on the flight training exercises and the plan to move the training base to Nam Pong airbase in Khon Kaen province in the next 4-5 years.

Thailand and Singapore have a close defense relationship. As well as traditional aspects, like exchanges, visits, and exercises, the Singapore Armed Forces also have an overseas training area in Thailand, one of the several arrangements it has with other countries, including Australia and the US.

Because that noise and others noise created by modified exhaust systems, complete removal of noise reduction on agricultural vehicles, sub-woofer bass increased to brain crushing capacity, etc,is momentarily overpowered by jet aircraft sound output which seriously damages the entire fabric of society simply because it exists at a sound level that (so far) can not be emulated even by mounting a 100 liter megaphone drum exhaust to a dump truck which an individual near me has done !

Thainess.

Time for Thailand and Singapore to build islands and airbases in the South China Sea next to the Chinese and practice there.

...the locals haven't heard aircraft for the past two years...they'll get used to it.

(Looks like another Chinese loan will be required for that one. Top priority.)

Nam Phong today is a Royal Thai Air Force communications center. An on-site visit in January 2019 by several Marine veterans of Task Force Delta report that the base was minimally staffed and the runway surface is in poor condition and would not support non-emergency fixed-wing aircraft use.

Local people please take note - relocation of noise??

This military airbase is situated north east of Khon Kaen City and was built by the Americans in 1966-67 during the Vietnam War to support EC- 121 aircraft. Currently, it is a Royal Thai Airforce communications centre (ref. Wikipedia)

Thais concerned about noise???!!!   How about the deafening noise that comes from temple loudspeakers sometimes.  Loud music being played with a high level of low bass that shakes the foundation of buildings.

They whinge because it's not them thats making the noise.

Most days a week they practice their maneuvers over our Tambon here in Amphor, Ban Dung (about 70 km NE of Udon). Quite entertaining at times.

The Jet noise is easily drowned out by the idiots on their banged up Honda waves.

My son's kindergarten school was not far from the take off strip at the base.

An F-16 doing a full throttle scramble takeoff would absolutely shake the building. And it was never one, they loved to do three or four one following the other.

I'm amazed it's taken this long. The passenger jets are whisper quiet compared to the air force yahoos.
