The government measures to promote the reopening of Hua Hin and Cha-Am were starting to bear fruit, according to local businessman Udorn Olsson

Elsewhere the government was slammed for flip flopping but Udorn, who is a key figure involved in the redevelopment of Hua Hin Airport, was more buoyant.

He pointed to a request made by AirAsia to operate flights to and from Hua Hin and Chiang Mai for foreign tourists in the period October 15th to 29th.

FD 7900 would leave Chiang Mai at 8.45 am and arrive in Hua Hin at 10.05 on Fridays and Sundays.

The return trip, FD 7901, on the same days would leave the Hua Hin at 10.35 and reach Chiang Mai at 11.55 am.

Udorn said there had also been interest from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia about operating direct flights into Hua Hin.

Meanwhile, Dr Suriya Khuharat of the Prachuap Khiri Khan health authority said that a foreign film crew comprising 300 staff has requested to film at Hua Hin airport in October.

This plan will be taken to the CCSA for approval.

Co-incident with a trip to Bangkok, we're planning to visit in 2 weeks time to see friends. Their hotel, which we usually stay at isn't expending opening costs until they can see the promised light at the end of the tunnel.  On 2 occasions the batteries that powered the lights inside the tunnel failed and they aren't alone.

We're going anyways, staying at a mainstream hotel and visiting them. Have been warned that very few places will be open. A real shame if it isn't better than that.

If the promised panacea isn't apparent this time, it's gonna damage the place for a heck of a long time.
