Being told I have one year to live. While based in Thailand.

A new neighbor moved into our residential village around 3 weeks ago. After around 1 week his Honda Civic was parked outside our house gate in a manner that other cars could not get in or out of our property.

We didn't say anything.

It happened again around a week later.

When we saw him, I asked him nicely to please not park in front of our gate as we often come and go.

The next day we woke up to his car completely blocking our gate, and no one was in his house to ask to move it.

A friend of a friend was able to come with a moveable jack contraption and we were able to move it as we needed to get some supplies.

2 days later I'm walking to the clubhouse and there's a knee banged into the back of my knee as I'm walking.

"You die this year"

"Hi, what"

"This year you die"

"Oh."

"You are dead this year. You are <deleted> dead this year."

And he walked away.

Covid doesn't make international travel too convenient. So, with less than a year to live, where in Thailand would you travel to, and what activities would you do there?

Knowing someone with a tow truck would be useful in case it happens again.

Talk to neighbours, he might be doing same to them.

Tell everybody you were assaulted and threatened with death. I think it's the best protection.

Go to known to you local cop, he might do background check on him. He is a thug, possibly a criminal, possibly violent - if he has record, police will watch him and frame.

Also put notice and some object outside gate. Maybe mock camera, a sign about cctv monitoring

IMO that's one for the Thai wife/ partner to sort. If not married/ living with a Thai, disregard this.

Yeah. I believe he's giving all this much too much thought.

I don't think so OP is taking it as humorous he should report the threat incident and physical contact if that's what happened, seems like his an easy going feller.

Personally I would go to the local cop shop, smile, have a nice chat, tell them of the problem and assault and ask the cops if they wouldn't mind to visit you when this guy is home, no doubt a friendly visit to him after that telling this guy that the cop he is talking to is his brother-in-law/very close friend of his neighbour and he mentioned the incident, i.e. car blocking his car getting in/out and the assault, and that if anything happens to him as much as a hair falling out of his head or this guy saying a single word to him, then he will be going to visit the Bangkok Hilton for many years for possession of drugs, that or the he can have the plastic bag treatment depending on how angry the cop is on the day.

When the cop finishes sorting this clown, then slip him 5,000 baht, guarantee you that your neighbour won't park or bother you ever again.

I would consider that money well spent, call it insurance ????

Sounds crazy ? Not really . I once had a neighbor who threaten to kill my dogs , with a big smile I replied I only hoped he had house and life insurance. He could not understand , so had to explain , moment my dog gets killed, very high chance his house will catch fire while he is asleep in it.

1 week later he moved and never been seen or heard from again

Sometimes have yo get down to their level to deal with them

Unless the thuggish neighbour knows a higher ranking cop or General.

Better to get photographic evidence and report what happened as other posters have already said.

I know what I would do the day AFTER flying out to wherever, but best not post it here.

Any chance you can sub-let and move in the meantime......this kind of incident eats away at you like a cancer.

The good news is that he probably didnt mean it, the bad news is that he said "This year" and its nearly October already

@JeffersLos

Is he Thai or farang? I also have a very selfish neighbour who would park his cars outside my house. He has four to five cars.

Make a video recording next time when he said those words, it is threatening a life and is illegal.

I'd rather park properly and have to walk a mile than do something like that.

You should go next door and clarify. Did she mean one year, as in 365 days, or one year upon the end of Fiscal year 2021?

Editied, yet still still one incomprehensible sentence.

You don't say whether he was Thai or Falang.

Thank you for your comment.

So which is it that you suffer from, GAD or OCD or both.

I think the latter, try real hard to move on, life is too short, if you can't, no doubt I will get a reply back from you ????

Edited: Noddle, I like that, very fitting, how are my sentences now ?

Good point, but maybe he's a British accountant or taxman, in which case his year would end on April 5th, 2022.

Based on the last few sentences I'm not sure it is a real story.

Strike first, strike hard. Deal with the consequences with cash

I'd be more suspicious of this type of character that allows life's trivial things to eat them up.

Time to go Angry Auntie on his car like the old Thai ladies did here in Bangkok last year because of the cars that continually blocked their gate.  Either that or get the security company to move the car next time and fine the owner for illegal parking.

Take  up  boxing and  wait until day 364 to  pummel him to death

All this fuss! Just arrange for his car to be stolen! End of!

Stick one of these on it..

Absolutely, op should ascertain his employment status in order to place a finite date on this.  If he owns a  business he can also use any date in the year as his 'end' of year'.  Also if he's Thai then that could be the end of 2564  which is a reasonable distance away from a Gregorian perspective and probably nothing too great to concern himself with.

Very confusing and crucial to the situation.
