Pheu Thai MP cries foul over corruption watchdog’s bribery finding

Pheu Thai MP for Thailand’s Muk Dahan province, Anurak Tangpanitarnnont, has described as “hasty” the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s (NACC) decision to find him at fault following an allegation that he demanded a 5-million baht bribe from the director-general of Underground Water Resources Department in exchange for endorsing the department’s budget.

The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has expressed concern over the increasing number of new infections in the southern provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla, while infections in Bangkok and its neighbouring provinces are steadily declining.

Phu Kradueng National Park reopens doors to tourists

LOEI, 1 October 2021 (NNT) - Phu Kradueng, a popular tourist destination in Loei province, reopened to visitors on Friday after having been closed for a long period due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The first group comprised some 500 people.

More businesses reopen Friday as COVID-19 restrictions ease

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand has further eased restrictions imposed to control the spread of COVID-19, with more business entities now allowed to open and operate for longer hours. The curfew in 29 dark-red provinces is from 10 pm to 4 am.

NBTC cracks down on SMS scams, phishing calls

BANGKOK, 1 October 2021 (NNT) - The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is working with the police and network operators to crack down on scams, and phishing text messages and calls. The general public is encouraged to report these scams to the NBTC for further action.

Alpha, Beta, Delta variants detected in Thailand’s South

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health has detected the Alpha, Beta, and Delta variants of the coronavirus in the southern region, but there are no reports of other mutated strains.
