Want to change from Non – B to Non – O based on marriage as leaving my job

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would appreciate some advice.

I am leaving my job, I have a non -b and Work permit. I am married to a Thai and I want to change to a non – O based on marriage, I have 400k in the bank (although it has not matured yet) do I request a 60 day extension based on marriage, then extend that to 1 year once my funds have matured. Also what documents will I need to take with me to get the 60 day extension based on marriage. (this is my first time going on to a marriage visa) Thank you in advance.

You cannot change your non immigrant visa categories.

You will change the reason for your extension of stay based upon working to one based upon marriage to a Thai.

You will need a termination letter from your employer to cancel your current extension on the day you apply for a new one.

Your new extension will start on the day you apply since your current one will be cancelled.

If you need more time to have the 400k baht in the bank for 2 months you can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife. You will need the termination letter to apply for it.

Here is my general list of required documents and etc. Marriage Extension Requirements 2.pdf

I did not need a termination letter in HH, got a 60 days extension right away and old visa got cancelled.

Your visa was not canceled. Immigration only canceled your current extension of stay.

It would be very unusual for immigration not wanting a letter from your employer to cancel your current extension based upon working.

First step is to cancel your work permit, then (same day) go to immigration.

As for dealing with immigration, I highly recommend seeing an agent. Little extra cost, big peace of mind. The agent has his contacts, knows what kind of pen color and picture background that particular office requires, and saves you stress and queues. Just my opinion.

She is married to a Thai and can keep the work permit when she changes the reason for the extension. Read the earlier posts again.

Thank you all for your help. I will pop in to immigration next week and get some clarification, i did want an agent but i was told by an agent that the samutprakarn immigration chief doesn't allow agents there, im not sure if this is true or maybe they just dont let that agent deal there lol. Does anyone have the contact for an agent that you know deals with samut prakarn immigration. I will give them a call as i dont want to have any problems. Thanks again
