Hurry up and Wait

I've been coming Thailand 20 plus years - last 8 years full time.

I am still amazed at the need for speed on these roads and small sois. Pattaya, my wifes province or village.

Shake my head. <deleted>.....too old to join in these days and my Honda Cub would be trailing in the dirt.

Does anyone else feel happy just to get from A to B quietly or is everything in Thailand simply a race?

Note: I use the word "everything" loosely.

If you drive slowly you can get away with anything here.... and despite their need for speed and must be at the front here, they do seem to tolerate this well.

I think it's to do with the Government method of organisation.  Every Government department that you may need to visit always works on a first come first served basis, unless you are a hiso of course, so for every one else it's a case of hurry up to get there and then wait an eternity for your turn to come around.
