If you download Thai movies they don't like that but anything western (no not Clint Eastwood) then your good to go. Imind you if you download thai series/movies then you deserve to get caught. But as it directly accesses torrent sites to source the streaming, I see it is a kind of a wonderful combination of both. I wonder why we don't seem to hear about Stemio very often here. I got ExpressVPN nearly ten years ago and would never consider using the web without it now. There are a number of advantages to having one that go beyond simple privacy. I have their VPN image on my router so ALL my ethernet or wifi traffic is encrypted. It's $10/month well spent. Using free ones is a fool's game. The exception for using a VPN is if you are doing something illegal or if you want to bypass restrictions in a country. As far as I know, ExpressVPN is now owned by a company that in the past have sold data about ther users. When I am in Thailand, I rent out my apartment. A couple of years ago, I got a letter from a lawyer with information of what was downloaded, the date, and which client was used. When I got into torrents about ten years ago I learned the hard way. I got multiple threats from my ISP, Comcast /Xfinity about downloading copyright material. That started me on an evaluation of VPN. I tested their claims by using their products to torrent. On all except Expressvpn I got nastygrams. They made it sound like Elliot Ness was on his way to the house. They also spelled out the full indiscreet name of the vid to cause maximum embarrassment and it appeared often in the text. It was sent to the ISP and they forwarded it to him, lawyer demanding to know his name, address etc. Yeah, sure. The ISP's own message to him was to knock it off or they will cancel his account, but no threat by the ISP to comply with the shyster. Some searching revealed that this "law firm" was making a cottage industry of doing this. A few weeks later he got another warning, in this case the client was HBO. It was not due to visiting websites, but to the actual torrent connections. So if in the US yes, VPN is the way to go. When you connect to a VPN your ISP may not be able to track your connections, but they can tell that you are connecting to something and they tally the amount of data you transfer through it. Same thing with Tor: they can't track what you are doing but they know you are connected to Tor routing. Another handy bit provided by VPNs is you can connect via another country to a site that would block connections from the country you are physically in. Did some banking on my MacBook on my ASQ and hotel Wifi. Someone hacked my account, and tried to use my credit card. My bank notified me immediately, and temporarily suspended my card. Which stressed me out big time, as I was using the card for everything. Thankfully I had a back-up debit card, or I would have been screwed big time. Eventually got it resolved, then started using a VPN (Proton). No issues after that. Am returning again soon, will try Nord next time. I've heard Express is great.
