Big word, efficacy.  People who tend to use it haven't a clue how to use it.  FWIW efficacy is used to describe the results of clinical trials.  You should have used 'efficiency' which is used to describe results in the wild.

The word is used to describe many things.

ef·fi·ca·cy
/ˈefəkəsē/

noun
FORMAL
  1. the ability to produce a desired or intended result.

In that I was discussing the herb's efficacy  as an expectorant, as demonstrated in a few hundred years of local usage and some small trials, the usage was entirely correct.
I can assure you that with a 99.7 percentile verbal aptitude I know very well the usage and efficacy of the word. ????
