Yes I think there are clear category "types" of expats and of course we also dncounter them here on the forum.

There are only two types, all others are sub-categories......

 

 

1) MORONIC LOUD OBNOXIOUS DEMANDING THREATENING JUDGMENTAL types

 

2) normal decent quiet just leave me alone so I can be happy types

or Home: Owner, Renter, Shack, Room, Villa, Bungalow, Farmhouse, Condo

..... in Thailand peace and quiet means only 10 banks of speakers, less than two sub-woofers, no more than three Nok Gow-wow or Cockerells, whichever is the louder.

 

Anything more than this is 'poccadee'.  Total silence means you have gone deaf.

When I arrived over a decade ago I was told Expats here were either, "Mercenaries, missionaries or misfits". I don't think I make that particular cut.
