Hello. Can anyone tell me anything (good or bad) about the AVA Bar on Soi 11 (I think)?

I have to entertain some clients from overseas, and a work mate told me that this place would be a good option.

Anyone have any experience at this place.

Thanks.

Down soi 11, pretty far in past the Grand President hotel on the left side. It's very similar to some of the soi 33 bars, stylish, aircon, some hostesses but not dressed/acting over the top like at some of the worst of the soi 33 bars. Like no night gowns and matching attitude, it's pretty laid back overall. Some pool tables too.

Kinda liked it. Less sleazy feel than most bars in that area. (E.g. the beer garden in soi 7 and around Thermae and all) But soi 33 has loads more. "The Office" and Wall Street are two bars there that I don't find overly pretentious or overly expensive. In Soi 33 you have to aim to get there before Overcharge-Hour. (or 'Post-Happy-Hour', 'Un-Happy-Hour', or whatever they call their time based pricing schemes overthere. :o

Used to go there regularly until about 2 years ago.

Oh well, a bit of suburbian feeling and the girls a bit higher nosed or more expensive or both.

Nice little garden so.

Chanchao, can you describe what the place looks like? Last time in the LOS I stayed at the President Solitaire and must of walked by it every day walking down to Sukhumvit but can't remember a place called Ava.

Also, anybody know what that place is near the end of Soi 11 (away from Sukhumvit) that's a very modern/artistic looking building? It looks like a dinner club or night club but I saw mostly Thai's going in and out of there. It even had valet parking and security. Sort of reminded me of nightclubs in LA.

digibum, the oval-shaped thing on the left side is the bed-supper club.

Eat and drink while lying down. Towards Sukkhumvit than, on the right side is the Federal Hotel followed by the AVA.

Right, Bed Supper club. And isn't Q bar thereabouts as well?

Ava is pretty small, shophouse size on the left. Up 2-3 steps, then inside is a nicely lit room with a bar, some staircase a bit strange in the middle. Most things inside are painted white, but the lighting is nice.

Chanchao, you seem to be a strong man. :D Go up the staircase in the middle and you find a pool table and the toilets. Never been there?

Ah, Q-bar, go to the end of Soi 11 where you only can turn right or left, turn left and you are there.

If you go straight you go into Chand House, presently under redecoration, I lived there for two years, before the owner sold to Ambassador Group and I was thrown out, which should explain my geographies down there. :o as well as my night cups in AVA. Don't worry, they forgot me by now.

The AVA bar is a homey/trendy little joint run by a guy from Pattalung. Nice guy, used to be a regular at Q bar. The place is relaxing, a real neighborhood bar. Not many tourists, most of the customers seem to be residents President Park.

Music is pretty hip- fits the environment well.

VERY expensive girls. Kinda like part timers, most of them I think. Though they are all quite pleasant. And kind of... sophisticated. (Well, everything's relative).

Decor is affordable hip- black and white photos, kind of artsy. Over all, a really nice place to start the night. And happy hour (s) beer is cheap. Can't recall how cheap but two hours there cost a lot less than half an hour in Nana.

AVA-last time I was there [April],the female manager {Khun Tim] insisted in being called a manager.

I found her to be quite a pleasant lady, and she beat playing pool, but then a 7yr old could beat me.

I Think is QBar.

Has a good mix of TG and "KaToey"

Music is good and some of the lady is pretty as well.
