More than 15,000 litres of counterfeit alcohol confiscated in Phnom Penh

Officers from the General Department of Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression (CCF) conducted an inspection of alcohol (methanol) sellers in the capital city and confiscated more than 15,000 litres of counterfeit alcohol.

 

The operation extended over the span of two days, from October 25 to October 26, officials from the CCF conducted alcohol quality control inspection on Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey District. The operation is part of a sweeping operation nationwide to identify and confiscate defective and counterfeit goods.

 

After the inspection, officers found 157 barrels of fake alcohol, equivalent to 4,710 litres, at a house in Sangkat Choam Chao, Khan Por Sen Chey. Officials then proceeded to investigate another store on October 26, with the permissions from all the relevant officials. During that inspection, officers discovered 375 barrels of counterfeit alcohol, equivalent to 11,250 litres.
