Thailand’s Department of Corrections is working on the launch of a pilot dog therapy project in prisons in Nakhon Ratchasima, Ratchaburi and Rayong provinces, according to Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin.

 

He said that the project could help in improving the mental health of inmates and provide job opportunities for prisoners in pet grooming services, such as haircutting, dog bathing and nail trimming, after they are released from prisons.

 

He said that the pilot project, to be launched at Nakhon Ratchasima, Klong Pai, Rayong and Khao Bin prisons, will initially focus on aging inmates, those who repeatedly violate prison regulations and psychiatric prisoners.

Dogs are my favourite humans.

I wonder are they specifically breeding the dogs. or rounding up soi mutts for re-education and  socialisation ?

Dogs have worked well therapeutically with inmates in many jurisdictions across the world.

 

Which cabinet minister has a family member with breeding kennels?

 

 

just round up all the soi dogs and dump them inside the prison gate,  then the jail birds can really interact

There are plenty of dogs in the dog pounds that need a good home and won't mind sharing a bed with twenty others. But seriously, are the pedigree dogs portrayed the ones for the prisoners rehabilitation? His Majesty, the late king, took mongrel dogs and trained them. But times have changed, sadly.

Wow their are going to be a lot of dog grooming services in Thailand then. Would it not be better to train them to sterilize strays and administer rabies injections.

I guess we will soon find the answer to that question, "how many pills can you fit up a dogs a*se?"

C'mon Fido, be a nice boy.

I'm not sure why flying a plane would require therapy and what a strange place to conduct it in!?

Ironically the dogs are restrained by chains as are the human inmates....
