The death toll has risen to seven in the case of several migrant workers who mixed isopropyl alcohol with Oishi tea and orange juice in Banteay Meanchey province.

According to a report by the provincial police, seven out of 25 poisoned Cambodian migrant workers have died. They were staying at Kob Thom Quarantine Centre in Poipet city’s Nimit commune and were immediately taken to Poipet City Referral Hospital for treatment.

Police said that the workers took isopropyl alcohol used as spray sanitiser, mixed it with Oishi tea and orange juice and then drank it. Some died on the spot and others died at the hospital with 18 workers still being treated.
